On Friday COX Cable in Meriden, Connecticut added the EVINE LIVE Shopping Network (Formerly SHOPNBC/SHOPHQ) to Channel 81. My Mom is happy because they sell Paula Deen's products. There is a problem however. We don't usually use the closed captioning, but the Closed Captioning on EVINE is messed up and has been since we got the channel.
The way the Closed Captioning is supposed to work on EVINE is the words scroll one line at a time. It should be something like this.
"I'm your EVINE LIVE HOST.
This hour's guest is Paula Deen.
We will be selling her ham and smoked sausages.
We also have her new "Lady & Sons Cookbook."
Instead of all this dialogue appearing on individual lines they're all coming up on top of each other and it's like a scrambled mess.
Unrelated Note: There are 3 COX systems in Connecticut. Meriden, Enfield, and Manchester. The Meriden system was the only one that did not carry EVINE. Around 2005 COX Meriden removed then ShopNBC from Channel 31. They then moved QVC from 32 to 31 and added The New England Sports Network to 32. The other 2 systems continued carrying ShopNBC and eventually moved it to Channel 81.
