EVIT's Goldmine Radio + East Valley Tribune.com

Please excuse the crowing - but for a "high school" radio station - this is unprecedented.

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/local/mesa/article_38c69072-1fc8-11e2-873a-0019bb2963f4.html

And - on behalf of the students and staff - Steve Grosz and I are not only very proud, but also supercharged for changes already in motion - and those on the drawing board to be implemented in 2013.

Those in the industry that would like to participate in assisting us in growing the next crop of on-air performers, sales and marketing execs, production directors and broadcast / I.T. engineers - you're invited to join our advisory board that already consists of well known Valley radio + TV GMs / PDs, engineers, PR + marketing firms reps, plus students and staff - contact me [email protected].

We would love to have your expertise and experience on our team.

Not to toss cold water on the good news but are these kids going to have anywhere to work once graduated? I'm not in the biz but it seems from steady comments on this board that the radio industry is compacting severely.

They can always do their post-grad work at the Buckeye Media Hut and postpone the inevitable ::)

Congrats Bruce on the partnership. We'll never forget you were the guy who was able to configure an XM receiver for the '76 Gremlin. That certainly added resale value!

btw....does the EVT have the same unenforceable "limited free peek" policy as the AZ Socialist Republic?

Mr. Tuna asks:

Our graduates already occupy various jobs from board op/producer to on air talent at stations in and out of The Valley.
Plus our program has expanded to media marketing and sales.

And, as for myself, a little cold water is always welcome with a M > F 3am wake up call.
Ask Mr. Sharpe, unless he's already left the building.

Moving on to the pinnacle of media pundits - The Doc and Jeff ask:

btw....does the EVT have the same unenforceable "limited free peek" policy as the AZ Socialist Republic?

Absolutely, unequivocally and most undoubtedly.....NO.

As the "Funky Monkey News Junky" says......"FREE THE NEWS"

http://eastvalleytribune.com/freethenews/

BTW Doc - your free sub on Mel Radio ran out two years ago.

Besides - The Lumberyard kills the Decades Channel anyway. Where else can you seg from Paul Revere and The Raiders "Mr. Sun, Mr. Moon" to The Bubble Puppy's "Hot Smoke and Sassafrass" to Jan and Dean's "Popsicle" in less than 15 minutes?

Bruce is right, our program is less than 5% focused on "on air" training....these kids can produce, work for corporate av and sound, marketing or ad agencies, multimedia marketing, building apps for phones and tablets, web, and design....so I think the program has gone in the right direction.
