Evolution 101.7 Has At Least One Billboard!

WEDX-101.7 at least has a billboard up to promote their format.

This afternoon (February 21st) on the 12 Noon local WBZ-4 newscast, they had a report on preparations for a likely major Winter storm set to strike this weekend (February 23rd-24th).

The report featured an interview with a local public works official (I don't recall what city or town). In the background was a Papa Gino's (one of a chain of pizza restaurants throughout New England). On top of the Papa Gino's was a billboard plugging "Evolution 101.7".

So at least Clear Channel is using billboards to plug Evolution.

Did "The Harbor" ever get any billboards? I sure as heck never saw any.

Pulse 87 NEVER had any in New York during its run as a dance station (2008-2009). But we made sure word got around :)

I have seen quite a few different Evolution billboards out there. And yes, there were Harbor billboards.

There are a LOT of billboards for Evolution 101.7. Going south on the Expressway from Boston, I think you see at least 3 of them within a mile or so. A friend of mine even saw one in New Bedford, where there's no chance of even hearing the station. Must be some kind of package deal or whatever where they place them on a certain number of boards within an area, no matter if the station can be heard there or not.

There is 2 on the Expressway that I saw going South and also one on RT 16 in Revere going up north from Logan Airport. Can't miss that one.

Guessing they're just fillers for unsold CC billboard inventory. (Radio and billboard companies are still co-owned, right?)

Kind of like those ads for Portland TV newscasts that appear in editions of USA Today printed here in Connecticut, then? Or do the USA Todays printed here (in Norwich, I believe) go to the Portland area as well?

Co-owned, but totally separate. Any "filler" would be a piece promoting that the space is available and to call CC Outdoor at... CCM&E paid CC Outdoor for that billboard.

USA Today is not printed in Norwich, and probably hasn't been for many years (if it ever was). Gannett unloaded the Bulletin in 2007. USA Today is printed at Boston Offset in Norwood.

Billboard in Fall River too. Makes no sense when you can't hear the station. Didn't notice if it was a Clear Channel owned BB.

How prominent is iHeart on that billboard?

There's no reason they couldn't promote it outside of the small coverage of 101.7 if they also told you how to get it.

Yeah I noticed that during a recent morning commute. It's on the corner of N. Beacon and Market in Brighton (by the PBS building above the Mass Pike).

I saw one of the billboards today in front of the Jordan's Furniture in Redding.
