Evolution evolves to the Bull again

WBWL 101.7 HD2 is broadcasting their HD1 on HD2. I noticed it yesterday.

Maybe no one else even noticed.

The HD2 audio is now simulcasting the HD1 (The Bull), but the RBDS display reads "Pride Radio", an LGBTQ oriented network, then it displays the song that must be playing on "Pride Radio" instead of the Country song playing from the HD1 simulcast.

So I'd guess they're preparing to switch the HD2 to "Pride Radio" but have not switched the audio yet for some reason.

Been there awhile. iHR had it on 107.9 HD2 and I believe it went to 101.7 HD2 as Kiss's HD2 became WBZ Newsradio.Conserv talk went off for awhile (had been on 101.7 HD2) and moved to 94.5 HD2 but that gave way to the Breeze.

Would think so, other than on the iHR app. They seem to only have HD2s not HD3s. 94.5--Breeze... 97.7--not sure...
100.7--WRKO... 101.7 Pride Radio... 107.9 WBZ AM

Remember, iHeart dismissed Chris Malone, the PD, from WKAF - 97.7 RRB. So that signal is in play as well.

There is no HD2 (or HD3) on 97.7 at the moment, only HD1. It appeared to have a blank (dead carrier) HD2 on a few weeks ago, but it's not now.

101.7 HD2 now has the audio of "Pride Radio" along with the RBDS display, no longer simulcasting "The Bull" (HD1).

It's now Pride Radio. Perhaps Pride will hold onto some of Evolution's audience. The formats are distinct from each other but some of the dance music on Pride would attract Evolution's listeners. Now Boston has 2 LGBT stations: Channel Q and Pride Radio. I absolutely support LGBT radio. But I'm not sure the market was calling for two stations. More likely the corporate owners want clearance for the formats in Boston to attract national advertisers. Just to say they are in the market. They don't really care what the people who live here really want to hear.

I think it's a push by both Entercom and iHeart to get their respective LGBT services in all the big markets, especially during June, Pride Month. iHeart's Pride Radio is all music from what I understand. I'm not even sure it has DJs, just liners?

Channel Q has weekday talk shows. It runs dance music nights, weekends and whenever a talk show has gone off the air. (Channel Q used to have a two-woman show in middays but apparently that's gone, replaced at least for now with music.) Channel Q is also heard on a Class A FM station in Palm Springs, a resort city that has many LGBT visitors. It's also on an FM translator in Seattle and on an AM station in San Francisco. Meanwhile iHeart's Pride Radio is only on HD stations. And of course, both are on their respective on-line platforms, iHeartRadio and Radio.com.

I have listened (to Channel Q), and I found it to be very 1 dimensional...and falls into the stereotype that all gay people think the same. While they try to be more than music, I find most of the announcer content to be silly and trivial. (Playing into another stereotype.)
