EWTN suing Obama Administration over Contreception move

This is the crux of the article: "A Catholic television network founded by a cloistered nun 30 years ago, filed suit in federal court today challenging the Obama administration’s policy requiring most health insurance plans to cover preventive services for women, including contraception and the morning after pill — without any co-pay."

Already excused from this ruling are certain religious-based health plans and hospitals. The remainder are not charities, they are businesses, and as such should not be the target of people who do not agree with contraception. After all, each individual, religious or not, has the freedom to use contraceptive devices/medicines - the new law does not force anyone to partake.

On the other hand, if this new rule prevents unwanted pregnancies or the birth of children their parents are not able to care for it has significant benefits to all society.

I find it amazing the amount of outside distortion/spin that is put on any legislation that the Obama Administration proposes. I've heard "talking heads" describe the legislation as forced contraception...government control of procreation...and someone even tried to pass it off as government force abortion. The proposed legislation is anything but...

Allowing the Poor to have contraception, at their own choice, prevents to a certain degree the so called "welfare babies" who suffer a fair chance in life for lack of a father or a safe neighborhood.

The economy's in tatters, but the election is about free..free...FREE birth control!

I think that is an unfair charge. It was not part of anyone's campaign until the Republicans made it an issue after the president signed the bill.

But there is a definite connection to the tattered economy. An enormous amount of social welfare money is being spent on families and single woman who have babies they cannot care for. A lot of these kids grow up to have substantial issues and many turn to drugs and crime. Unless someone is clearly ready to be a parent (or repeat parent) there should be a reasonable means of conception prevention for the benefit of all society.
