Ex Camel Country Jocks (and Andrea) now on the Internet

T&W appeared on the Fox10 Morning Show today and said that they had already put together a daily show on the 'Net at: http://timandwilly.com/

They said it would be updated each day and would be "edgier" than their OTA show was.

Apparently Andrea will continue as part of the show.

I listened to their first show online. They explained why they were fired (CBS Radio apparently thinks it can get more listeners playing more music instead of the personality-driven variety). Tim also said they (T&W) were getting increasingly frustrated because the station was cutting down on their "talk time".

T&W both had contracts and will receive whatever severance was spelled out there. Andrea did not have a contract and gets squat (which I personally think is childish for a major corporation). It seems like a slap in the face.

Among other supporters and advertisers they commented on how good KSAZ-TV (Fox Phoenix) had been to them and I am wondering whether they might continue doing some sort of appearance on the Morning Show as they have done previously.

Anyone know whether their contract non-compete (which I assume is standard) names businesses other than radio stations that would preclude them from appearing on TV?

I seldom listened to their KMLE show because I am not a Country fan but now I'll have to tune in and see what all the talk was about.

Tim mentioned they were canned because of falling ratings and CBS wanted to fix that by playing more music - which is what KMLE was already doing reportedly. Seems someone is out of touch here.

Haven't non-compete clauses in contracts been illegal in AZ for a number of years?

Yes. But if CBS is still paying them the terms of their deal they are still technically employees of CBS until the deal runs out. Same that CBS did with Pratt, Steve Dahl, Tom Leykis and several other high profile types a few years ago...just getting paid to sit. If CBS did indeed enact their out clause in the deal then yes, under state law T&W are free to go across the street tomorrow and get on the air...if anyone across the street is interested.

Or alternately, they were canned because of falling ratings.

This is not a new thing in radio. If you don't deliver ratings, you get canned. It would be a terrible injustice if they'd been getting great ratings and were dumped in favor of a "more music" approach, but I don't think that's the case.
