Whether travelling or just dx'ing it was the regional flavor, the songs you didn't hear back home. sometimes even the processing that made radio a bigger part of my life 15+ years ago.

I know that consultants and PDs have research that can pinpoint "safe" and "familiar" but I still believe that media does have a role in leading not just reflecting.

As an aircheck fan I sometimes go to ReelRadio or my own collection and I'am often surprised at how regionally varied playlists were during Top-40's golden era.

Today it seems that every AC, every CHR sound the same.
