Ex Houston TV Weather Gal in Deep Doodoo

It really annoys me when someone suggests that a major urban daily newspaper with huge circulation would just make up a story saying a high profile person has been arrested and charged with a crime. Yes I know that the media doesn't always get things right, but making things up out of whole cloth is so rare it's almost nonexistent.

There really is a NYC TV meteorologist named Heidi Jones, and if she hasn't been arrested and charged with lying about an attempted rape, and the NY Post just made it all up, she could sue that paper out of existence.

Is WABC TV's own website reputable enough for you? http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local/new_york&id=7845148

BTW: Jones has been suspended pending the outcome of this case and an internal investigation. If she's convicted, she'll probably be fired, and she'll have to find another way to make a living because no TV station in the country would hire her.

Then again, she might get on at that TV station in Anchorage, Alaska where reporters were caught red handed talking about making up stories about Tea Party candidate Joe Miller. http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2010/11/11/103602/alaska-tv-station-cancels-newscasts.html

Well, be annoyed or not, that's fine. The NYP has a history of taking minor crap and blowing it up. If they're right, get 'er! You and I both know that once someone is tarred with a rape charge he can never escape it.

And given the Post's history, that paper can't escape that, either.

You ever hear that expression, "Sometimes you gotta laugh to keep from crying." Newsies are exposed to so much REAL crap that they joke in the newsroom about FAKE crap as a release. But at the end of the day they clear their mind and focus on the job at hand and do it fairly and professionally. Much was made of the Alaska newsies in-house comments. But it's important to note that none of it ever made it on the air.

mmnassour: Your precious NY Times has arguably done far more damage to this country as a whole than any daily publication that is still in existence. The examples are numerous and you can start with their careless publication of the classified "WikiLeaks" documents.

While you're entitled to your opinion, so am I. My opinion is that your commentary on this tread is ill-informed and sophomoric at best.

Merry Christmas!

Did you see me defending the Times?

Do not make that assumption.

I was talking exclusively about the Post. Period.

Next time, understand what you read before posting.

Your opinion is ill-conceived. Have a wonderful holiday yourself.
