It's official...Paul and Jen are history at KOVR.

Not unexpectedly, Cohen and Charlier have brought on Sam Shane, former KCRA weekend anchor in the mid-90s to replace principal anchor Paul Joncich. Still no word on who will replace Jennifer Whitney on the 10:00pm newscast. I've read message board chatter that says it will be Sarah Gardner, but I'm hopeful that they'll go with someone outside the market.

There's an article about this topic in today's Sacramento Bee. In it, Jennifer says, "...(management) wanted someone who will do 5, 6, and 10." Does that mean Marcy Valenzuela is out as well? I sure hope so...

While we're on the topic, does anyone know how work on the new combined studios for KOVR and KMAX are coming along in West Sacramento? I'm getting tired of hearing the Sinclair news music package on a CBS O&O and looking at that horrid newsroom set.

The construction is running about 3 months behind at West Sac. The lightning strike on September 26 did serious damage to the infrastructure, forcing engineers to replace a large amount of cable and some hardware. They think it might be up and running by April.
