EX-KVIL BILL GARDNER LOSES JOB IN PHOENIX FROM CBS CUTS

Don't know the rest of the story, but the CBS mass 'released employee list' being circulated includes longtime KVIL vet Bill Gardner, who's been burning up the airwaves in Phoenix for a number of years.

WHEW...so glad to see that no management-types were released at CBS. ::) Blame it all on the help, of course.

Rest assured, he'll be missed dearly here in Phoenix...He'd been in the desert for 9 to 11 years...Can't pinpoint it because it seems like he was ALWAYS here! A family friendly morning show that's genuinely human will do that...

Of course, that will go over the heads of the corporate people. Makes NO sense whatsoever to disturb the chemistry of a successful radio station with personality...and KOOL-FM has had that for YEARS. Tomorrow? Probably not so much... It's a cryin' shame...

Started at KOOL-FM on February 1, 1999.

Blown out by the (C)BS nimrods six days after his ninth anniversary.

Bill Gardner, besides being an excellent communicator and broadcaster, is one of the greatest friends in the business one would ever know!
He is also one of the few in the industry who, despite being unhappy about a situation, would simply ignore the negativity of it all and laugh it off with a couple of radio buds at a nearby bar (Coors, actually).

...and did you know when Ron Chapman was considering moving from KVIL to KLUV, what radio personality Ron visited with to find out how he transformed to "Oldies Radio" and made it successful?...yep, ye old Captain, Bill Gardner. The man Ron once described as "a master zapper, dynamite, even with a 4 second intro."

Bill came to Dallas to fill the afternoon drive vacated by Larry Dixon, and did a terrific job!
His upbeat attitude was fantastic and i hated to see him go.
