In the early 70's KSON-FM was very low budget KSEA and the program director had three pieces of furniture in hisw office: a desk and chair for himself and a single bean bag chair for a visitor. The PD was Jerry Clifton who went on to a successful career as a programming consultant. In a business where senior managers almost always come from the sales side, Clifton has now become CEO of ProActive Communications, a new company that has secured $50 million and is now acquiring radio stations.

Presumably he no longer has to use beanbag chairs as office furniture.

Cllifton has done well over the years with his
Urban and Rhythmic CHR consulting. One thing,
50 million to acquire radio properties sounds
more impressive than it is.

This won't be Jerry's first run as a station owner. He and Scott Fey ran New Planet Radio for a few years with stations in Hawaii and Phoenix in the late 90's.
______________

Are you guys by any chance referring the same radio company that Randy Michaels is currently involved with or is that a different company?

No, New Planet was a company that ran 103.9 KPTY in Phoenix(now KEDJ). If you based Clifton's "genius" work on the way he ran 103.9, then many people would say he was the craziest idiot on the planet. 103.9 went through so many incarnations under his rule. it stunted as Steve(a Old Skool Format), then became Rhythmic CHR, then he flipped it to Extreme CHR, then went Extreme Rock, then went Teenybopper CHR(I am not kidding, he played only Teen Acts for a while) then moved closer and closer to Rhythmic CHR then went Hip Hop until KEDJ 100.3/106.3/106.5 was sold to Univision, then decided to adopt KEDJ's Alterantive format and calls which it still has today.

Oh, the KPTY calls are now in Houston thanks to yes, our resident poster David Eduardo's Employer, yes Univision.
______________
