Actually it was the end 2000 and according to Paul Ladeaux, who was the PD of WYNK at the time, Crockett & Company scored a major hit on their morning show actaully beating Big D & Bubba in a few demos... When I left Tiger Country it was to take a gig back in Houston at KIKK. It was a mutual departure.
______________

Your getting your numbers from Paul at WYNK? Didnt he get canned too?

Again, you are incorrect Shrew.

While he was taken off Tiger Country, he was put on as the most expensive mid-day guy in Baton Rouge radio history on Eagle 98.1 for several months. You see, it was a contractual thing. The last thing Mr. Herpin wanted was to go into court again on the Heels of the "Condon Incedent."

btw... I haven't forgotton about you chauvinistic and incorrect comments in a previous thread. Moreover, it shows your ego-centric mentality and ignorance in some matters. Occasionally you are quite correct. In others, you only know enough to be dangerous.

Mostly correct Dave. You just omitted the finishing out of your contract on Eagle 98.1. The ratings you speak of are correct, all be it not many, you didi score some narrow victories.

In your defence, Mr. Herpin never let you "do your thing" long enough to see if it would work. He loved to get in the middle of programming sometimes didn't he? (may he rest in peace) Trying to be "The Wolf" was the next in a series of events that added more baggage to 100.7. That is not your fault. Some poor decisions were made years ago. You weren't given the "full" chance see if your show would work. I remember your frusration.

Hope you are well, my friend. God bless you.

There was a lot of frustration toward the end, but it was more with Ted Kelly than with Greg. Greg knew what he was hiring and he realized that I would cause talk on the street. Gordy can tell you some stories as well! He wouldn't always understand the motive, but Gordy and Elaine were great partners to be teamed up with! Near the end the move to Eagle was just plain dumb, but I think maybe Herpin was getting pressure from above. It all ended badly and even my agent at the time (Norm Schrutt) advised me to walk away and not look back. But there were some grat times in BR and it was great to be able to experiment with some radio ideas, like alter-ego "Jimmy" and the incident with the dolphins in the LSU Lakes.
______________

CAN WE PLEASE STAY SOMEWHAT ON TOPIC?

You don't know what you are talking about and your post makes no sense whatsoever. The conversation is about Dave's performance on Tiger Country....but as usual with you....you have to name drop in an attempt to make people think you have a clue about what is /was going on in the radio biz....truly pathetic. Dave's numbers were never anything to write home about...and he was moved over to Eagle in July of 2000 when he returned from vacation in order to prevent any further decline in the numbers. Dave is a really good jock, but he was too "blue" for the country audience in Baton Rouge. True, Dave had a contract that Herpin did not want to bother with, so for a few months, you had a 90,000 dollar a year midday show on the Eagle...the type of gig we all dream of having. As far as the rest of your petty crap is concerned....whatever. I am correct in everything I post because unlike you, I have my information first hand...not taken from others. Shouldn't you be putting up banners somewhere or something?

You are correct. The topic is posdcasting, not his ratings or anything else. I should not have posted anything ther than that. I just wanted to see the the record was straight for Dave's concern.

My apologies.

It is good to see that Dave is doing podcasting. That is two BR related personalities that are doing so.

Re: CAN WE PLEASE STAY SOMEWHAT ON TOPIC?

Thanks for making my point for me Shrew.

Also, I appreciate the personal attacks more than ever.

Re: CAN WE PLEASE STAY SOMEWHAT ON TOPIC?

As far as the topic..Dave made ratings a topic when he boasted about his numbers on Tiger Country in an effort to get people to check out what he was offering.

Re: CAN WE PLEASE STAY SOMEWHAT ON TOPIC?

Personal attacks, eh...lets look at your first post here and the comments you made to me.....

btw... I haven't forgotton about you chauvinistic and

If you cannot handle being put in your place, do not cast the first stone. Now, if you are saying my comment about putting up banners was a personal attack...you are mistaken. I was referring to your present position, if you are in fact who I think you are. Actually, I think there are 2 of you posting under the same name since you pretty much live together and use the same computer. In all honesty, I lost any respect for you when you were singing the praises of Bill Jackson in a much earlier thread. That told me then and there that you were totally oblivious to what goes on at GB.

As far as making your point...I still do not know what that point was supposed to be. Your posts in this matter appear to many as simply kissing up to the guy that works in a major market. Your posts may have been an effort to say that his being placed on Eagle was a promotion when in fact it was a demotion from a morning show. I did not mention that move because I was simply making the point that his numbers were lower than Big D and Bubbas when he was moved. You (and oldies guy) should know by now that whatever you post will get both positive and negative feedback, especially when it is false.

Dave is a great air talent. That's why we hired him at the old Tiger Country. And yes if given more time I believe he would have ended up beating Big D and Bubba, but who knows. Pressure from the "suits" did not allow that to happen mainly because certain people weren't comfortable with his content. So it was a mutual agreement that since the station could not pay him the money he made for mornings he would work out his contract on Eagle. That's it. When you work in a market the size of Baton Rouge ratings are not the only thing that matters. I know Dave was frustrated with me at the time but sometimes a PD has to do what they have to do, and I'm sure Dave is a pro enough to understand that. Hey I eventually got canned as well!!

Interesting how so many radio people never grow up. How one person could possibly ruin another one's career is beyond me. God bless you. Wht not say who you are?

Re: EX

Man who hasn't made a mistake in their life or career. Espicially when trying to do what's best. Sometimes the results don't come out quite like you plan. So changes get made. I have heard mixed things about Ted since I started in radio, but it's my choice to believe them or not. There were a lot of things happening at that time when Dave was with us! But you got to let things in the past stay in the past. Ted gave me my chance to be where I wanted to be and I can't say thanks enough. Now back to the subject at hand the podcast. You're not being forced to listen but, give it a listen I think you might enjoy what you hear. It's real people talking real stuff. Ted thanks again. And Dave good luck brotha!
