Ex-WBT AM guy, Al Gardner in Philly

Merlin announced this morning that their two news FM stations introduced a year ago in Chicago and NYC are dropping the format after failing to make a dent in the ratings. A new format for each - alternative rock for New York, Adult Hits for Chicago.

This could make Al Gardner a little uncomfortable having just put their Philly station on the air as PD a few months ago. Although the Philly station is News in the morning and syndicated talk the rest of the day (Limbaugh's now there. along with Hannity and others), one has to wonder what the future holds for Al and his station.

If Al doesn't develop a measurable audience in short order, he, too might find himself looking for a job. Maybe he'll be back at WBT - maybe not.

I think Al wants to many bucks and is near retirement; but if he does come back then I can hear once again how wonderful his smile and teeth look. ;D
