Ex-WGBF'er Don Geronimo Hanging It Up

You'd have to be a really serious radiophile to remember a young Don Geronimo when he did a short stint, 6-10p, at the original "River City Rocker." After stops that included WLS and KIIS-FM, he's calling it quits after spending the last 17 years at WJFK/Washington, DC. Geronimo worked at GBF in Evansville around 1976 on a staff that included Jim Wood, Buddy Scott, Steve O'Brian, Charlie Quinn, Buster Bradley and Dirty Harry Lyles. I've got an old composite (that I'm on too) from that era and its still the most smokin' station I've ever heard. I was in DC last summer and got to hear the Don & Mike Show while they interviewed Paulie Jr. from Orange County Choppers. Still awesome.

When Don was in Baltimore the famous "Black dog" joke had him off air for a dew days. Enjoyed him on WINDY 1260.

I think Buddy had to let him go from 'GBF for running up the Watts Line bill to some gal.... He didn't want to be in E'ville.....Talent! Hey share that 'composite'.. Hundreds of us regret never scoping the station in those days.. We need to here what the best regional/medium to small market chr/top-40 sounded like..... "Skip"
