Richard Waldron, former general manager of Christian radio station WPOS-FM, has been convicted of aggravated theft, after admitting to stealing thousands of dollars from the station. This included increasing his own health insurance entitlement.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that a "POS" like Mr. Waldron worked at a radio station with those call letters? ::)

Just saw this on Inside Radio and was going to post something...

He will be paying back a little over 17k to his former employer

Heh. The call sign is supposed to stand for We Praise Our Savior.

But yeah, it fits him too.

Actually, the call letters stood for "We Proclaim our Savior." Then again, actions speak louder than words.

Anyone from WPOS on this board able to tell us, anonymously if needed, what the atmosphere is like now there? Granted, a theft is a theft, and a religious station that operates largely on listener donations is that much more accountable - even if the amount in question seems pettier than is worth a front page story.

I think the sense of "entitlement" and "I'm not getting my share" that seems to come with conservative religion in today's America may have fed into this. Or else, with all the competition they now have on the dial, the board of directors at Maumee Valley Broadcast Corporation don't pay close enough attention or have ways of keeping everyone accountable. Wonder how they eventually figured out they were being taken for a ride?
