Happened to notice this piece of unfortunate radio-related news in the deaths section of Monday's Beacon Journal...

The former local air personality known by the air name Dale Richards was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting near the Florida nightclub where he worked as a DJ.

I vaguely remember the name from his stint at WRQK some years ago, and he apparently also worked at 92.3 in its days as WZJM. His father, known to many listeners in his heyday here as Bobby Knight, is a former WCUE, WKDD and WHLO air personality.

What a shame. Hopefully the scum who did this are sacrificed to the pit fires of hell. Drive-by for being kicked out of a club. Ri-goddamned-diculous.

Bobby Knight was also at WIXY, circa 1973-74.
