Excellent TV commercial for Radio 104.1

Really? I thought this as well as the one with the guy jumping from a ledge were cheesy and terrible. They both also feature Pearl Jam, real relevant. I understand the importance of Pearl Jam, I like Pearl Jam, but... really?

They're running a really heavy schedule too, both cable and broadcast. I catch them every night on WFSB, WVIT, and cable, all dayparts.

OK, this may sound silly, but as one who never listened to the station what format did they switch to prior to returning to alternative rock?

WMRQ in its first modern rock phase was replaced with mainstream urban as WPHH "Power 104.1" going up against Hot 93.7 WZMX in 2003. That lasted for 4 years until 2007 when, not having any ratings traction against ZMX, they went back to modern rock as "FM 104 One" WURH until Fuller picked it up out of the Aloha Station Trust in 2009, changed the calls back to WMRQ and changed the branding back to Radio 104.1.

Thanks. I do remember some of what you mentioned but it seems like I haven't listened to that station since the Merv Griffin days of "Country 104" :D

Who here remembers it as WIOF, "Magic 104"?

back in the day when the studio was in waterbury...on rt 69?..yea..dating myself too

I go back further. I saw them build the original studio in downtown Waterbury in 1967. WWCO-AM-FM was the 5th and 6th floors of 65 Bank St., which is the second building in the linked picture. Offices were on the 5th and studios on the 6th. The last two 6th-floor windows in the front were for the FM studio. AM air and production studios were in the back.

I remember Magic 104, but when they were sister station to WWCO AM 1240 was before my time. I remember when they were Star 104.1 (after Magic went bye-bye) and shared studios on East Cedar Street in Newington with WPOP AM 1410.

I also remember WWCO AM 1240 as an Oldies Station prior to them becoming a Buckley repeater in 1997. Loved listening to Steve Jay and Rich Cyr on the weekends. Plus New York Yankees Baseball.

I remember WIOF-FM quite well! I also remember their studio along Cedar Street (CT Route 175) in Newington. It was in the same building with WPOP-AM 1410.
