Excerpt From Glenn Beck's New Book

I wonder who wrote the book for him. I doubt this red-neck yahoo can read books, much less write them. But, yes, people who listen to him do become sick (although since Tucson, people like Beck have been trying to deny that).

There's a difference between his suicide-prone thinking about how contact with him would poison other people, and the reality of today for listeners.

In the interest of full disclosure, the book is co-written with noted psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow.

The responses to this thread show who is really sick.

A man struggles with depression, addiction, and suicidal thoughts. Then he tries to help others in similar situations by writing a book about his problems. In return he gets called "hemmoroid with ears" and accused of inciting violence. Way to rise above the "rhetoric"!

When someone spews rhetoric, they get rhetoric in return. If Beck wanted to help others, maybe he should cut back on his rhetoric and conspiracy theories that he clearly doesn't believe.

And it was a conservative who called Beck "The Hemmoroid with ears".

The point was that Beck was describing a time in his life when things were pretty bleak.
It's pretty crass to make fun of the man then, just because you feel like it now.
Not everyone deserves "rhetoric in return" for everything they do at every situation in their life.
Besides, what rhetoric did Beck say about anyone who's responded in this thread? Are you returning rhetoric by proxy?

To prove how truly galvanized we are as a nation, you need only read through this thread. People who disagree with someone's politics resort to personal attacks or say they are "spewing rhetoric". Find a talk show host that doesn't "spew rhetoric", if by "rhetoric" you mean an opinion. I'm not really a fan of Beck by any means, but really, to insinuate talk radio insights violence is about as ridiculous as the claims against violent video games, cartoons or movies from the past few decades.

Talk radio is show business; there is little distinction between it and movies or sitcoms as they are all entertainment. To blame any one person for the actions of another is tantamount to a "devil made me do it" attitude.

I like how everyone puts down Beck for being a recovering alcoholic and admitting his problems, then he writes a book to try and help others and he's wrong for that. As someone else in this thread wrote, the real sickness and divisive rhetoric exists within the extraordinarily judgmental attitudes within this thread. I don't like having to be in the precarious position of defending Glenn Beck, but really, some of you can't let your own politics or ideals get out of the way of your judgment.

I don't much like what Glenn Beck says on a lot of subjects and I like how he says it even less. However, I give the guy credit for adopting a dog from a shelter and for bringing attention to the problem of unwanted or stray dogs in the US. This is in contrast to Obama and Biden who got pure-breds from puppy mills and thus contributed to the problem. In particular, Biden showed himself to be a sleazy weasel: When he was criticized for getting a commercially-bred dog, he went out and got a rescue dog. Now it turns out the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has revoked the license of the puppy mill where he got his first dog for cruel and inhumane conditions.
