OA has already mentioned the following on OMW, the Big Blog O'Fun (TM):

I have been seriously pondering becoming the webmaster of LCCC's internet college radio station site at http://www.lcccradio.com. I will ask for the job as soon as tomorrow. This will be amidst the semi-hectic schedule I've been adjusting too as a member of LCCC's Student Senate. I'm very excited.

A bit of history: the LCCC radio club have no terrestrial signal to operate an actual station from, and never have had one, due to Elyria's VERY close proximity to Cleveland that shut out any LPFM license, if it EVER was in the cards.

Some simulations were set up to compensate for this (one involved prerecording hour-long shows on 3/4" videotape!); but it wasn't anywhere close to the real thing, and it soured my initial interest in the field.

Fortunately, the radio club successfully launched an internet-only station a year and-a-half ago. Their positioner, as has been mentioned in my R-I signature, is "The Duck." Don't ask.

The main problem: they need someone to actually update and upgrade the existing website content. Some of it hasn't been touched since last fall, other parts need some good TLC. Even though I've self-taught myself HTML code, I basically offered my services when no one else apparently wanted the job.

It's obvious that the site needs some updating, some code overhaul, serious schedule clarifications, and the obligatory spackle here and there. I've been whipping up a little demo that may help make the rebuilding a bit easier. Friends closest to me that are within the club have been greatly impressed with the demo.

I'll be taking some significant breaks from R-I, so as to devote whatever free time I have towards this. I'm very excited about this. Please wish me the best of luck.

Glad to hear it Nate81. But don't disappear completely. It's good to have your Lorain County information.

My old Alma-Matter...I was VP of the club/station back in '99.

Oh...and for the record, I am no longer with the Buzzard- just still have the screen name =)

An update...

Thanks to all for the very kind words. It's been a nerve-wracking buzy few weeks. (Ah, the world of Student Government...) I need a lot of the 'best of duck,' hehe! :D

I did ask for the webmaster's job; and formally applied. Since it's a paying job, the necessary burecratic wheels are now turning. It will take a few weeks before anything is made official. People within the station are very excited about the demo, which I continue to tweak here and there.

As soon as a confirmation is made, this board and OMW will be the very first to know.

(BTW, I'm listening to WBWC's online stream as I'm typing this... !)
