Excluding NPR, who had the first syndicated talk show in Atlanta?

I'll wag this...

96 Rock had Dr. Ruth Westheimer for a few months in the early-mid 1980s (somewhere around 1982-1984).

I think Bob Mann(?) was the host of "Open Line" on WQXI in the 1960's or a little later. If I remember correctly, It was on on Sun. Morn, just like Ike's show.

I remember that WSB AM had the program Sound Off back in the 70's. Bob Mohan hosted it, but I don't think he was the first host. Also, we know that Ike Newkirk had his show on for almost 40 years.

But were those shows syndicated? Keep in mind that back in the day WSB got a lot of out-of-town calls from throughout the southeast even on local shows, due to their being a class A clear. I remember WSB running night spots asking secondary service area listeners to write Congress to prevent the FCC from doing away with the clear channels.

If we're talking about non-syndicated talk, Boortz was on the air in 1969 and some of his stablemates at Ring Radio were there before that; didn't WRNG go on the air in 1968?

Sometime back in the mid 1980's 680 (then WCNN) ran some syndicated afternoon talk in the afternoons, and one of the shows I remembered most was Michael Jackson (the talk show host) and his live show that came from the studios of KABC 790 at the time.

Larry King started his all night Mutual broadcasts in 1978. Don't know if he was on in Atlanta. The repeal of the fairness doctrine opened the door for the likes of Limbaugh to espouse their political opinions.

Moved back here to Metro Atlanta in 1978 while in grade school, and yes, WSB 750 back then was airing Larry King's Mutual radio show weeknights starting at Midnight.

The Joe Pyne Show was on WIIN (970) in the late 60's or early 70's. He was probably the father confrontational, network, talk radio.

King's predecessor on Mutual was Long John Nebel. In researching it, I have been unable to get an exact year other than he was syndicated in the early 70's and died in 1978.
