Executive Leaders Radio?

Anyone know anything about the ads that have been running for months for a PT job as host of a radio program on WWDB AM and a station in Baltimore called something like Executive Business Leaders? I've only read the ads on craigslist. It has been almost impossible finding info about the producers of the show on the internet. They say the host gig pays $25 to $50 an hour. Seems pretty cheap for a nationally syndicated show.

It's a brokered show produced by a PR firm. The people interviewed are their clients.
The ad is placed by the PR guy (a one man consulting shop).
The show is basically an infomercial.
The frequency with which the ad keeps reappearing should tell you something.
It's not really a syndicated show but they are trying to buy time on additional brokered stations.

You mean this thing?

Each week EXECUTIVE LEADERS RADIO produces four half-hour shows on WWDB-Philadelphia (Friday 10a-12noon), and is now moving into other national markets. We profile our region’s key executives representing many industries and functions. The focus of each show is to educate and inform our listening audience regarding the leadership and management issues facing today’s business leaders.

As Host you will conduct an on-air interview which is truly an informal conversation. And throughout this conversation you’ll talk about management style and philosophy, lessons learned, industry trends, challenges and opportunities ahead. This provides each guest an opportunity to showcase their career and their enterprise (i.e. how to sustain excellent through time, how to keep the fire burning after achieving success, etc.). As a member of the Production Team, this position also has a role in assisting in the securing of the guest roster for the show. Willingness and professionalism to speak with senior executives is mandatory; background in either sales, recruiting or marketing is preferred as you will be working with meeting the needs of the show's sponsors. The position is permanent, part time - 3 to 4 hours a week.

Requirements:

Professional
Motivated
Articulate
Good interviewing skills
Must be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of business
Prior phone experience
Strong organizational skills
Interested in permanent, part time; it is KEY that you are not looking for a full time position but understand and accept the limited hours

The studio is located in Manayunk and the host will need to go to the studio for the on-air interview on Friday mornings. We are looking for someone who is not dazzled by the concept of being 'on the air' or caught up in the label of being an 'on-air personality', rather we are looking for someone who understands business, has strong interviewing skills and who works well with a team. Good candidates would be people who enjoy interviewing, talking in depth, and can establish a quick rapport with others and draw out a conversation. Additional duties as Associate Producer could be something that can be added on to this position, if comfortable. Associate Producer duties require you to identify, locate and contact potential guests for the show and other related organizational duties.

Please respond to [email protected] as soon as possible. We hope to begin phone interviewing immediately.

..and so forth. Prior cross references led to a trucking company, and another current one leads to a dental office.

It's a lot of layers for a no-advancement job offer. They could at least be honest and SAY that they are in the logrolling business.

Raydofan: Yes, that is the thing to which I refered. I've actually heard the interview show on WWDB AM and it is basically an informercial for the business owner being interviewed. The show are recorded, I'm guessing. The woman who I heard as the "host" did not do a bad job. I don't know why they are being so secretive about their business. The ad is on craigslist. I don't know a great deal about craigslist but it seems to have a lot of job ads for guys looking to hire "models" for "short films". Anyone ever find a legitimate job using that site?

I talked to the producer (who has some sort of temp agency filling the need of the 'emerging entertainment clientelle') and she suggested that Herb Cohen is the person to talk to.

I did ask if there was a salay increase with each new market. She had no clue. I also asked about the interview, could I challenge assertions if I felt they were talking nonsnese, go off extemporaneously, etc.

Also, she wasn't aware that it was a pay-for-play show, like an infomercial...
Talk to Herb.

So, I just might do that.

I wonder how much of money their wasting on this show..

So I am listening for about five minutes at this point. The host is interviewing-surprise!-an 'entrepreneur' from a pharma-firm.

I wonder if there are disclaimers on either end of this show. I wonder what the FCC regs are regarding this type of program.

Talking with the lawyer-turned-CEO about her new psychotropics...

Ads heard:

Jetta, Local Real Estate, Estate Planners.

Is this still considered 'brokered'?

Also, a general 'does not reflect' disclaimer.

Host sounds like a robot.

This the guy Herb hired last month. The guy before was just as bad.
I have met some people in radio who manage to combine arrogance, stupidity, dishonesty and nastiness in one package.
But Herb ...... !!!!
