Extended hybrid mode for FM

I recently became aware of the extended hybrid mode for FM. The total channel is as wide as the non-extended mode, but the digital signal is wider at the expense of the analog signal. I am curious if broacasters plan to use the extended mode, and how it will affect the fidelity and range of the analog signal, and the range of the digital signal. From what I can gather, the extended mode will offer room for more channels. Please see the link below:

Hopefully stations will keep the number of channels to a MAXIMUM of about 3, with perhaps a very narrow bandwith service such as reading for the blind on a fourth, and keep bitrates as high as they are now, or slightly higher.
