Extreme/Active CHR

Wondering if anyone had feedback or historic points of reference for a concept of "extreme" CHR. Now, worldwide, a lot of stations like BBC Radio 1, the Nova stations in Australia, and the future New 107 in Edmonton, have the distinction of being early on new music, remixes and more cutting edge music.

Most stations seem to play fewer currents in traditional CHR. I'm thinking of something that would draw from modern rock (especially the more danceable tracks), anthem dance, hip hop and electronic pop (think Cut Copy, MGMT, etc.) Pulling gold from old school hiphop and alternative dance with an extensive list of currents and jocks who were knowledgeable about the scene.

While a typical CHR's music mix may be easily replicated on an IPod (I can download the entire UK top 40 chart in 30 minutes or less) this station would move at the speed of the net, playing the new music young adults wanted with a fresh, urbane sound. Think URB and XLR8R crossed with Spin. I think with the direction of hiphop production, pop's fragmentation and the hip factor of dance and indie electronica and dance rock, you could have a pretty good music mix.

Any thoughts?

I'm all for it, but the question is whether the typical 18-34 year old woman dig this format.
I'm surprised the US doesn't at least have some college stations offering this type of Active CHR format.
