... no, not to KHOU, but to KIAH/Channel 39, the recently "News-Neutered" Tribune station.

As you would expect, their new two-hour morning show will not be entirely live and local (more on that shortly); "Eye Opener" will not only be based in Chicago (likely at the facilities of WGN-TV) but according to the Houston Chronicle "will be taped and produced overnight."
Probably not the best way to go just days after a major news event that broke within the overnight hours, but again, this is Tribune we're talking about here.
However, there will be up to twelve minutes of local content per hour, including news segments anchored by Mia Gradney - you may remember her from the nightly news before management stepped in and "fixed" it. (At least it's not as much of a raw deal than Kaity Tong got in New York; after years of co-anchoring the WPIX 10 PM news, she was replaced by a new news format - live and local but with a "NewsFix" sorta feel; Tong was retained as a segment host on the new news program.)
The article also has a comment from the station GM who claims that "the 9 p.m. NewsFix is pulling 80 percent of the traditional newscast's audience during February and appears to be gaining traction with 18-34 viewers at 5 p.m." I guess there's proof that if it's broke, "fix" it!
