A big chunk of the state would be out of the running for one of these Franken-FMs due to WVUA-DT running on RF channel 6 from Red Mountain. It throws out a big signal.
Wasn't there an LPTV station angling to get on channel 6 from one of the Baldwin County towers a while back? I remember adding to my list of LPTV construction permits but I think it eventually got cancelled. I guess 87.7 plus our tropo equals no change in Hades for success.
There's W06BH in Phenix City that is allegedly reportedly on the air with a religious format… That's the only analog channel 6 I know of in the state.
The former WPAN translator in Mobile had a CP for analog channel 6 from a Baldwin tower.
Since WPAN and that translator have been tied up in court for a decade or so, I wouldn't count it as permanently deleted just yet. It's just not practical. 88.1's in Biloxi and Pensacola would likely limit the transmitter site to east of the Mobile city limits.
