EZ-93 Part 15

Music log I extracted from my Part 15 FM station (EZ-93). I'm really happy with the mix and am looking to tweak and maybe get this on the net. Basically it's 60's, 70's and 80's (main focus is 1964-1984... with a FEW exceptions). There are almost 800 songs in the library right now and I am debating on adding some others. Here is a sample hour & change. Songs with * probably test better, I try to fit at least 3 in a break so that it would keep casual people listening. The others are candy for those who like the sappy love songs (Debbie Boone IS in rotation) ;D

Slogans: Your Relaxing Favorites - EZ 93
Relax, Refresh, Unwind, EZ 93

Audio Processing:CRL-SPP 800 & Optimod 8100 into Energy Onix TX dialed down to dirt feeding a simple whip that is in the attic. This covers maybe a block.

Nice Mix. I could argue about some of the "tested Well" songs, but for an 800 song playlist, it seems to be well put together. If they are all played equally, over time, you'll find it sounds a little weird. As a stab in the dark, if your "Asterisks" play twice as often as the rest, you're sounding good. (I don't get the Oletta Adams, but I know your purpose was not to debate titles.)

Professionally, I like it. Now a few thoughts...

What make the people on "Your Block" want to seek you out?

Why would they select your station over "Mix 1-0-Whatever-point-something"? Why will you "Win"?

Is it the imaging? (I would say not...)

Is it the music mix? (I would say yours is good, but is it so much better you can beat the big dogs with their extended signal range?)

Is it the companionship? (Since your rolling liners, I would guess not...)

What is the difference???

(By the way, when you REALLY figure this out, you won't be posting your air log on a message board, you'll be living on the 15th fairway...) :)

My advice (Which is still on a message board...) is to find that difference that can set you apart from your competitors.

If you're in Philly is there that "Hint" of soul. If in SC, while you retain your sound, does it suggest "Shag". If you're in Cleveland are you reminding me of their rock heritage. In South Texas are you "Coastin'"?

Don't get me wrong... Your mix is basically on. Don't change the genre.

Great Chefs start with a good entre and have a whole cabinet full of seasoning. You have a solid mix. Now it's time to season lightly.

Remember what you're chasing. Your listener needs to think....

"While I'm at work I listen to q-98, but there's nothing quite as good as that little EZ 93 when I get home... Too bad you can't get it across town at your house..."

Best of luck to you. You're thinking the right way. Actually, I hope I hook one through your kitchen window when you move to the 15th fairway. :)
