EZF doing it up with "Holiday Music"

Anyone know when WEZF flipped to Christmas, oops ah pardon my PCness, Holiday Music already ? OK Christmas Music, it is what it is.. My question, does flipping to Christmas Music, more than 6 weeks to Christmas help or hurt the ratings / revenues for the stations that do it ? To me this seems way to early..

Hey Jo Jo,

Where is WEZF?

Working at WEZQ in Brewer, Maine, and having flipped to holiday music between the hours of 7pm and 5am on November 2nd, I can honestly answer your question with an "I dunno?" We'll flip entirely the day after Thanksgiving. It is a game the two AC stations play in the market...the game being whoever flips first wins the ratings war for the fourth quarter. Interestly, we've received no complaints.

Did WEZF go 24/7 till Christmas?

seems like a waste of 100,000 watt signal this "early" in the season. I would play "holiday" music Starting Black Friday (or to be VERY PC. . .Friday of color) at 6:00 AM until Sunday night. . .Then start back up on Christmas Eve. But that's just me.

If you go by the ratings and only the ratings it makes total sense. Almost 30 stations across the country have already gone all Christmas. We might all think it's stupid but it's not about us, it's what the listener wants and according to them they can't get Christmas music early enough.

Personally, I love it. From what I've learned ratings wise, they're doing the right thing. The only hurdle left now is to lose Lana & No-talent-lan. Actually, they should really just get rid of No-talent-lan. It physically makes me ill to hear him try to do a show. It's like an audio car accident... it's so terrible, but you just have to listen (sometimes). Anyways, I digest, Christmas music now is the way to go. I'm actually surprised they didn't fire it up the day after Halloween. For God's sake, Home Depot and Walmart had their sh*t up 2 months ago.

C'mon now. I don't listen ALL the time! It would drive me crazy too! I feel bad for the STAR jocks who HAVE to listen to the same stuff till xmas.

Ratings can't be the reason in Burlington, they don't get the books! For a station that is really nothing more than background muzak this makes perfect sense. I don't care for it personally. I can't wait for them to start Christmas music Labor Day Weekend! You watch, it'll happen. :)

What are you talking about "no books". We gets books up here... trust me, we get books.

Anyway... I'm all for the Christmas Music.... Merry Christmas. Back on topic for everyone else now? Thank you very much... I'll be here all week.
