1. It was uttered by a participant in the game (player, manager/coach, or fan) who was not a direct participant in the actual broadcast (play-caller, cameraman, or producer). In other words, Bob Melvin and Brandon Webb can get away with it. Daron Sutton and Mark Grace cannot (and didn't, if you remember Grace's F-bomb a couple of years ago when he thought he was off-camera).
2. It was on cable. No FCC jurisdiction as to language.
In Grace's case, he had to apologize and got in trouble with D'backs' management, but there was no issue with the FCC. There won't be in this case, either. Both cases involved Fox Sports Net, not an OTA station.
What the "flip?" That friggin' word on the frickin' airwaves again? Who'd be the fargin' freak to use a fleeting phrase like that?
In all honesty, even if it weren't on cable, the FCC has determined that fleeting use of the "fornicatory" term does not constitute a fine. What a flippin' fiasco friends!
