F5 OKC May 3 1999

Wow it was just like yesterday... I was doing nights at KJ-103 and watched on Channel 4 the tornado start from an F1 in Cement and ultimately F5 through Moore. Hopefully that was the last time I had to go on the air and call for a code black for all medical personnel.

I hope everyone remembers how important it was having TV weather on radio for that event. Without radio stepping up and TV stations allowing it though their media partnerships there would have been a lot more dead people than there were. Our TV weatherman at the time gave us a verbal O.K. to run their audio on all our channels during that event and we just went with it. Damn good thing we did too. I'm very proud OKC takes this proactive aproach. Many other cities don't.
