Facebook ads for WABQ 1000

I find it funny I'm seeing repeated and different paid ads for a gospel show host on WABQ 1000/105.3 from my location in Alaska. They're obviously using very loose target market settings or the wrong settings (males, involved in radio or music, etc)

Hall of Fame inductee? Be nice to now what Hall......Eyeglass Hall of Fame? Orange Headsets Hall of Fame? DJ Chair Hall of Fame? I get ads for radio shows from all over the place on my Facebook feed. I just ignore them.

If I had to guess, the guy is buying the time.

I'm reminded of a guy who hosted a 2 hour weekday show on the USA originated feed for the English China Radio International feed we ran. It was a guy who claimed to have created a national radio network, had the #1 morning show in New Mexico among other feats (he announced them at the start of every show). A bit of checking was the national network being weather forecasts for client stations. The #1 morning show was 4 to 6am on a Low Power FM in Ruidosa. The 2 hour daily show on CRI was music variety ranging from 38 Special to Steely Dan to Taylor Swift's current hit (You Belong To Me). I didn't hear any compelling personality, just an announcer.

Christian radio had all the bells and whistles awards as secular radio. I quickly discovered (at that point in time) what might be a 4 on a scale of 10 in secular radio was good enough to land a 10 easily in Chrisian radio (much smaller playing field...miniature golf compared to golf).

I was in the vicinity this afternoon (Pleasant Valley & Broadview) and tried tuning in. 1000 was barely audible, 105.3 was non-existent.

I thought that the FCC wasn't going to license any more daytime only stations, unless this one got a pass.

no NEW ones, this isnt new

you can move a daytimer, downgrade an am to a daytimer.......

WABQ was on 1540 AM in Cleveland when I first heard them around 1970. As I recall, decades later, it popped up on 1460 AM, the former WPVL and WQLS in Painesville, Ohio. Now the call letters appear to be on AM1000 in Parma/Cleveland (?), basically the former home of WSUM and WCCD in Parma, Ohio.
There may have been some off-the-air time in there as well.

Not sure what 1000 coverage area is now with a meager 200 watts. Since it is licensed to Parma, is is supposed to cover Parma? I don't think it is.
