Fairness Doctrine Dead and Buried -- RIP and good riddance

It's finally gone, and apparently for good, at least until and unless it gets resurrected at some point in the future. That's doubtful though.

I have to say I'm surprised and impressed to see this, in view of the fact that three of the five members of the FCC are liberal Obama appointees, and some of the louder voices in Obama's very liberal political base have been calling on the FCC to restore the Fairness Doctrine.

In any event, here's the official FCC release:

I'm not surprised at all. Obama, himself, opposed the fairness doctrine. As a broadcaster myself, and regardless of my political leanings, it shouldn't be up to the government to tell radio stations what content to air.
