Falcons-49ers Telecast 10/23/1976 Help!!

i am compiling a history of the tv commentators for each and every nfl game played since 1956.

one game missing is the game in the subject. this game was played at 10 pm eastern on saturday, october 23rd, 1976. it was played at candlestick park in san francisco. the game was not televised in the bay area, but with the falcons as the visiting team, it was almost definitely televised in atlanta on a non-network local basis.

i am wondering if ANYONE out there would have info or would have access to info as to what station may have televised this game and most importantly, the commentators (play-by-play and analyst) for this game. ANY ANY ANY information would be most graciously appreciated!!! ;D

Contact the Atlanta Falcons PR office. NFL teams maintain a pretty extensive archive on every game. Each Game Book normally includes the TV broadcast team info.

i shall try that and let you know how i make out. if sucessful, i will post the info right here.

thanks for the tip!

update:

well courtesy of the atlanta public library, i did find out that waga-tv 5 televised the game.

now, if i can find out who called the game for channel 5, that would be awesome!

WAGA was CBS in those days. Their Sports Director, the late Ed Thelineus, was one of the CBS regional TV play-by-play announcers. Wonder if it could've been Ed?

Checking the Atlanta Constitution for
October 23, 1976, I found that the game
did air on Channel 5 at 10 PM, and that
Bill Hartman, Channel 5's sports director,
and former Detroit Lions linebacker Wayne
Walker announced the game.

That would make sense, because Wayne Walker was the Sports Director for CBS affiliate (now CBS O&O) KPIX in San Francisco for many years.
