falcons radio announcer history

hi. i'm trying to put together the radio announcer history for all 32 nfl teams.

in piecing together the falcons history so far, i was able to get the follwing for 1970-1975:

1970: jack hurst, alex hawkins
1971: jack hurst, jimmy orr
1972: jack hurst, jimmy orr
1973: jack hurst, jimmy orr
1974: jack hurst, billy lothridge
1975: jack hurst, billy lothridge
and also the following:
2005: wes durham, dave archer
2004: wes durham, dave archer, chuck smith
2003: jeff hullinger, jeff van note, chuck smith
2002: jeff hullinger, jeff van note
2001: jeff hullinger, jeff van note, billy johnson
2000: jeff hullinger, jeff van note
1999: jeff hullinger, jeff van note
1998: jeff hullinger, jeff van note
1997: bob neal, bill fralic
1996: bob neal, bill fralic
1995: bob neal, bill fralic
1994: bill rosinski, jeff van note
1993: bill rosinski, jeff van note
1992: bill rosinski, jeff van note
1991: larry munson, jeff van note
1990: larry munson, jeff van note
1989: larry munson, jeff van note
1988: pxp ??, jeff van note
1987: brad nessler, analyst??
1986: brad nessler, analyst??
1985: brad nessler, analyst??
1984: brad nessler, analyst??
1983: brad nessler, analyst??
1982: brad nessler, analyst??

if any one here could kindly confirm the findings so far and also be able to plug in the gaps from 1966-1969 (though i think i can fill them in in due time) and also from 1976-1981, and any missing or erronious info as shown above, i would be greatly indebtted to you.

hope this is of interest for all on the atlanta board and falcons fans alike.

Very good job getting this list together. I believe the announcer before Brad Nessler was Bob Neal, but not sure during which years during the late 70's and early 80's. Also, I think Ken Burroughs was an analyst some time during the early 80's.

Would love to see the complete list once it is completed.

Nice work compiling the list thus far. As a Falcons fan, I'd be interested to see the completed list once you have it. Bob Neal was the play-by-play guy for the Falcons from 1975-81, but I'm not sure who served as analyst during that time.

You forgot that Jim Ross who was the announcer for World Championship Wrestling was the Falcons Play by play man from 1995 thru 1997 not Bob Neal
______________
M. M. Louviere

Harmon Wages was the analyst.

talkjunkee,

do you know if wages the analyst for the brad nessler years as well?

and might you know who was on play by play in 1988?

What are these guys doing now? I know Brad Nessler still covers some sports. Where is Harmon Wages?

No, Bob Neal was the play-by-play guy from 1995-97. You're right in saying Jim Ross was involved in the Falcons radio broadcast at one time, but it was 1992 and he was just the 3rd guy in the booth--not the play-by-play guy.

I don't recall. You may want to try contacting Rick Shaw over at DAVE FM and the Atlanta Falcons Radio Network. He may be able to help you or direct you in the right place.

Brad did the play by play last Saturday night for the GA TECH / uga game. I think he still resides here in Atlanta area. He is with ABC

Steve Holman was Brad Nessler's partner at WGST. When the team moved to WSB, former Falcon WR Ken Burrow joined Nessler (Holman stayed at WGST). Munson & Van Note replaced Brad & KB.

I'm suprised that no one has mentioned that the late, great Skinny Bobby Harper did falcons radio for a few years back in the mid-eighties. I don't remember exactly when, but it would have been around 83-85. I remember (barely) because I was friends with his daughter Christy, and all of us teenagers from Woodward Academy used to hang out at his condo in marietta while he was out of town calling games.

Good times...

ed thelenius was the first TV voice of the falcons (when cbs had specific tv crews for each team) teaming with johnny sauer in 66 & 67.

jack hurst was the first RADIO voice of the falcons, from 66 thru 75 after which bob neal took over in his first run.
