Overall a great book for Rhythmic and Spanish language and bad for Rock.

The biggest gainers 25-54 Summer-Fall were HOT, KLUC, LA NUEVA. LA PRECIOSA. The statons with the largest 25-54 decline were EXTREME, KOMP, KXNT, and SUNNY.

SUNNY had a decent December, but it wasn't massive like most of their previous Christmas music Decembers.

MIX had an excellent book. They had a huge December, a month that normally gives them trouble. This is especially impressive considering competitor FRESH plays similar music.

HOT had a spectacular book. They had by far the largest gain 18-34. KLUC and LA PRECIOSA also had nice 18-34 gains. EXTREME and KOMP had sharp 18-34 declines. Rhythmic clearly gained at the expense of rock.

I see KKLZ is #12 with their brand of classic hits, which I gather is definition one: classic rock targetted at women (small library, tight rotations, single versions).

I always wondered how a Def 2 Classic Hits station (think WOGL/Philly, WOCL/Orlando, WCBS-FM/New York, KFRC/San Fran) would do in Vegas, especially with the demise of Kool 93?

I would say KKLZ is Def 2...they do play plenty of pop and soul. Lou Rawls "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" to name one example of many.

On the other hand I would classify KXPT as Classic Hits Def 1 despite the fact that they have been calling themselves classic rock for the past few years. They are super safe and familiar and have always been female friendly. LV really hasn't had a classic rock station since KKLZ flipped. The exception is Kim Kelly's Noon hour on KXPT...where she plays deep classic rock including some really good stuff...Humble Pie for example.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, ok. Its not like I stream them or live out there (yet), so thanx for keeping me on track. When last heard them, they SEEMED to be more Def 1 than 2. I didn't have a chance to "linger longer". Would it be safe to say they are doing better now than with their previous format, which I enjoyed when I was out there in early Feb. 2005.

I predicted that knxt or kxnt or whatever would lose ratings when the Foxy Arab chick took her bullet bike back to smogville. She probably could have got good ratings by herself on a FM music station. I think even the Geritol set is bored with that station. Maybe the could phase in Imus?

They have O'really iced on spike and he's not to happy about that..I think he wants to get on kdox or kdull.

I can't believe kwnr does so well with the 18-35 demo, but I see people that age at the bull riding event at the southcoast.

Actually, KXNT is up 15% from last fall. Mornings are #1 with men.

KKLZ is doing just slightly better than their previous format. They did have a good December which should be encouraging for them. I hear them on a lot in stores and different businesses, I sense there is a buzz on them. But Beasley seems to have a jinx where their stations are perpetually ratings challenged. For example none of their stations made the top 10 25-54 in the recently released Fall book, this isn't unusual for them.

KWNR does OK 18-34, but it pales in comparison to rhythmic or Spanish. If a station wanted to shake up 18-34 here they would go with a Hispanic Urban format similar to the previous format on KRGT. In their final book (that came out after they switched formats to go after KWID) they were #1 18-34! If a station flipped and did this format right they could be #1 18-34 themselves or at the very least take a big chunk out of the rhythmics.

What the heck happened to Sunny in December??? I just saw the December X-trends and they put in a 5.2 P25-54 where as last year they had a 10. And every year previous was big too. Was this just an arbitron f-up? I know Mix and Fresh had a Christmas internet stream and Mix did some Christmas concerts, but was that the reason? I saw a bunch of TV Commercials for Sunny and none for Mix and Fresh. Weird.

Talkers Mag has Stock 99 of the heavy hundred, just ahead of the "Junkies" --Harris who has the promo "the TOP talk show host in Las Vegas" in the 101 to 250 group--my garbage collector has higher ratings than she does. You mean #1 with men on English Speaking stations?

The Hurban format is dead. There is only one left in the US, and it is drifting downwards, while all the others had to change formats due to low ratings and inability to sell the format.

Extrapolations are mathematical approximations of the monthly numbers. Arbitron does not guarantee month to month sample balance, so individual months wobble like mad, especially in lower sample markets like Las vegas.

Stations that have Rush, Hannity, Noori, Laura etc are usually in the top 3 of AM english stations in a market......kfi,kfyi, kkob. kkoh, kmj, kfbk, ksfo, etc...I could name a 100+ of them but KXNT is #17 in Las Vegas..you don't think some old media bird at CBS doesn't see that??? Changes are coming.
