Fall 08 Book - Terre Haute

I hope they do well. Terre Haute could use a N/T. If they were to have a local talk program they should hire Ronn Mott. By the way MidWest if your reading this, tell who ever is programing 95.9 to put Levon on the shelf for a month. I think I've heard it almost everyday for the last several weeks.

Ronn Mott!!

That's a name I haven't heard in a while. I heard a few rumors about him. He was working for Crossroads since the Lincoln Administration. They were stupid to let him go. A friend in the biz said that he heard Ronn on a religious station in Illinois. Anyone know anything about that?

Ronn's a stand up guy. And you won't find anyone with either more knowledge of music or more opinions than that man. He'd be great on N/T!

Do you really want a two-century old man working as a talk show host?

Or is that the wrong Lincoln? I'm thinking of a certain Abe with a top hat.

Ronn Mott would be a great addition. He would not only bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, give your station its "local" touch but he would be great at stirring the pot.
I've known Ronn for a minute now, and there are a few things I'm sure about ....
A. He is never short on opinions
B. He is always up to date on current events globally and down the street
C. He'll be great to stir the pot up from time to time with any local hot button issues
D. YOU NEED A DELAY
Ronn can get a little passionate from time to time.

If this is the plan for Midwest, get Ronn to go along with the talk staples it should be fun.

From what I know about Ronn, which is plenty, He was trying to purchase the Paul Ford stations. Since crossroads let him go he's been chomping at the bit to do a show. Apariently someone who was helping finance the deal backed out and Ronn's plans fell through. I did hear that once in a great while he would be on with Paul. They will discuss various things. It's a shame that someone in Terre Haute doesn't use this man's talent. He would also be a good mentor for a eager beginner. Just browsing and informant 1977 must know Ronn to know about his passion and talent. Yes PT BoardOp94, If I had a station that was n/t, or an oldies format, I'd have the man behind my microphone.

If you believe anything you see on Facebook...it looks like Crossroads is launching a country station very soon. We'll see. I don't know what they think they are going to do with it but good luck. It's worth a try.

Alright, I'll bite. What did you see on Facebook and where did you find it? I tried using a few combinations of works and phrases to get something to come up, but I came up with nothing.

As far as Crossroads doing Country, I guess it's worth a try. How could they possibly fail at that...?

Everybody seems to think there is going to be a country station over at Crossroads. Very interesting reads here.

Does Crossroads have the money and resources to tangle with Emmis? No Way! But given their track record it could happen, and if it does, look for it to fail and then a big sell at 13th and Ohio to follow. They should go with their proven winner and that's flipping the B to Gold 102.7!

I think they have been for sale for awhile. Just like TV 2 and 10 no one wants to buy Terre Haute. Both the TV stations have had no luck in selling either. Midwest would probably like out of the market too.

I do think they maybe going oldies. They have an old WBOW jingle running going into commercial breaks. I just caught it today. I had been told Country but who knows. We will find out soon I guess.

I believe you're hearing it as they get ready to switch back to Lite Rock.

"Just like TV 2 and 10 no one wants to buy Terre Haute." ????

From my personal knowledge, it seems that even during these tough economic times, that folks are still "buying" ads with 10. Furthermore, it's news to me that Lin has a desire to sell one of their top performing television stations in the nation, even if it is just in little ole Terre Haute.

TV 10 is a great local station, and you can tell improvments on it since LIN took over. They brought local sports back, and they seem to get a lot of local advertising. TV 2 doesn't do half bad either, but I think you see a lot more station promos on TV 2 than you do on 10, which means 10 probably sells more.

On the radio side, Hi 99, Mix, and River, are about the only stations you hear a lot of local advertising. WBOW, WAXI, and The Crock have a lot of barter ads, and some local, but if you have to believe with their ratings the local rates have to be next to nothing, (Especially on The Crock & B).

I doubt any radio station except Hi 99 and Mix sell out a whole day of ads.
