These old call letters remind me of great call letter puns:

WWAX - Put Wax in your ears!! I remember this on billboards!

My favorite pun is for 99.9 in Cortland, NY......Kirby owned it at the time and the calls were WNOZ the pun is this: "You've picked the Nose....WNOZ Cortland" They never used this put they did actually call the station "99-9 The Nose". Folk lore has it that Kirby named his next station "Wiggle" put didn't like it and changed it to "Froggy" I guess that name had more LEGS....oooooo bad pun.

And you are close on those numbers.

Can it be that it was all so simple then?

Or, has time re-written every line?
 
Maines, Dave Bernstein told me this story years ago before he sold Canton, PA to Mike. This is when Dave was partners with Kirby. The station was apparently called this for a short time and then Dave left for PA and it was changed to Froggy. Now I could have misunderstood the story but I'm sure it is close to this.

Q 102 at a 6.6...hmmm...was that before or after the Doctor's botched operation?

CRMC---I think it was all because of Miami Mice! :)
 
Burb.....6.6 before. We still managed a 6.0 after (Summer of 1988) when Ben was away for his wedding and I had Da Butt in A rotation!

To add to this thread......Fall 08 proves once again....people still like Christmas! (Did you need a consultant to tell you this.)
