Fall 2012 Hudson Valley and Poughkeepsie Books

12+ Ratings are out for Hudson Valley and Poughkeepsie. Of course with so many not subscribing, the amount of relevant info is probably less than this post.

Poughkeepsie: http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb518

It looks like Pamal and Sunrise and Pamal subscribed to the Hudson Valley book and not the Poughkeepsie one. There is no explanation for them not to show in Poughkeepsie, especially WSPK. And no WGNY either, not explainable by the bump in ratings WBPM got in their new format. Like you said there is not much to discuss there are to many stations missing.

I guess the reason that WGNY's ratings never showed up in the books. My only guess is that "Fox Oldies" is going.g nowhere. Take a look at WBPM, they got their "Biggest Hits" going along and did a great job with it. That happened since September to bring in some "Fox Oldies" listeners. WBPM is ahead of WGNY, Because the music on "Fox Oldies" playing 1955-63 pre-Beatles stuff is getting way too old. Maybe perhaps a format flip for 98.9 would be interesting to see it coming along. This station like WGNY's "Fox Oldies" sounded a lot like the old CBS-FM circa 1985.

The problem for WGNY is the people who was on that station. Van Ritshie does it best, and then Bob O and Joe Manglass. I can't Bob Corsino, he is a terrible Jock in afternoon drive, why not put it on Sunday afternoons and Bering the doo-wop show back. WKNY did very well on Saturday afternoons playing doo-wops like the Dell Vikings, the Penguins and the Caparis. And my guess that "Fox Oldies" did not play "Morse Code of Love", because CBS-FM used to play that song al the time and on other doo-wop shows. It's a classic from 1982, and it didn't fit well, so WGNY focuses on 50's, 60's and 70's right up to 1975. No disco, No Bee Gees, no 80's, no doo-wops, nothing.

Kudos to WBPM for bringing some of WGNY's listeners to the table. My prediction is that WGNY needs another FM sports station such as ESPN Radio, and I would love to see sports radio in the Hudson Valley coming back. This is the way to go.

Disney, how is that extra chromosome working out?

WGNY did not subscribe to the Poughkeepsie book that's why their "ratings never showed up"

K104 isn't subscribed to the Poughkeepsie book also....Are they going nowhere? Should they flip to fm sports?

Stick to your B-94 in the 1990's posts so I know which threads not to click on.

It is interesting that the ratings for WFAS FM 103.9 have declined so much during the year.
Perhaps that will lead to a move in to NYC, as they have been authorized to do by the FCC, or at least a format change. Apparently WHUD has a lock on AC in the lower Hudson Valley.

IIRC, WFAS-FM never really did particularly well in the HV book.
Back when they had a Westchester book, WFAS-FM had better luck. Some chalked it up to diary distribution where WFAS was more dominant down county while WHUD did better to the north. There's no question that WHUD has the signal advantage and a "Hudson Valley" book would seem to favor them.
