Fall 2014 Arbitron for Louisville

For the love of god would you please drop the lite moniker!!! That should of been the first thing summit media did 2 106.9 when they took over

I looked at their playlist, Def Leppard and Lenny Kravitz "Fly Away" definitely NOT "Lite"

I really think that a lot of it just has to do with not wanting to change the branding that has worked for years. I don't blame them. I just take "Lite" to be a name unrelated to the format, sort of like stations that call themselves "The River" or even WLRS as "The Walrus" (walruses have nothing to do with rock, but it was nice name anyway). Or K-LOVE, it sounds like it should be love songs... it isn't. WDRC in Hartford, CT is a classic rock station that recently became The Whale... the whales have nothing to do with classic rock and Connecticut isn't exactly the whale state, but that branding came literally weeks ago. Changing the branding at this point, to me, seems to bring in a lot of unknowns that may or may not be worth the risk.

Its not who they r anymore. I see ur pt with the branding but it is ridiculous to keep lite at this pt. To bad if they dont want to change. It was there choice to start rockn so change the branding now!!! Ur a radio station that seems to have lost its way over the years.

To say that K-LOVE's name is appropriate (or not) depends upon your spiritual point of view makes absolutely no sense. K-LOVE is not about "love," period. That doesn't mean it is about "hate" either. It's a radio network devoted to Christian music, plan and simple. The name is fine, too, whatever, they're K-LOVE. They're not playing love songs in the way that Love 102.3 did (not that you would know what Love 102.3 was anyway as you almost definitely are not from the area, as indicated by the new username that you created today just to search for anybody on these forums posting something about K-LOVE or Christianity... much like the username that you responded with last month when I mentioned K-LOVE in a post, and also proceeded to find every other thread on these forums from all over the nation that mentioned anything related to K-LOVE or Christianity to respond to).

As for WDRC... yes, it's history. That's what people in Hartford were saying even. Why name a radio station for something that isn't relevant to Hartford now? WVEZ's history was as Lite 106.9. It makes just as much sense, it's just branding.

A walrus -- a green one, no less -- served WHCN Hartford very well for many years when it was a classic rock station. WBLM Portland ME has been "The Blimp" for decades. Classic rockers take the names of large things or animals to fit the "big" sound of their music. Walrus, Whale, Elephant ... Rhino ... Gorilla ... Mountain ... Vault ... all suitable for classic rockers.

"K-LOVE is not about 'love,' period."

Yes, it is. Just not "love" as you seem to define it. In fact, I'll take this one step further and suggest "K-Love" references a far more lasting and true love than "Love 102.3" ever could.
