KVVA gained the most, enjoying over a 2-share increase from Summer to Fall. KMLE dropped by the same amount.

Per the ArbyTron site, the fall book period was 09/18-12/10.

This includes approx. 33 days (beginning 11/07) when KOOL-FM went to
all-Christmas music, aka "KESZ clone."

Today's ratings release shows the KESZ numbers as #2 12+ and #2 25-54.

Meanwhile, the KLON--er, KOOL--numbers came in at #5 12+ and #16 25-54.
That's 16th. Tied for sixteenth!

I hope this convinces PD Kris and the local market manager (he would like
me to mention his name) to take the Chrysler Of Christmas Cheer, should it
show up next November, push it onto the tracks next to 840 North Central,
and let the next K-Lite Rail train destroy it. ::)

#5 12+ and #16 25-54 ??? Hmmmm...bet those big demos aint south of 25! Nurse Jeff and I told the See B.S.er's it was a bad idea, then we hurled all four of our shoes at 'em. KOOL Listener Lauren hurled a few herself. Compare that inefficieny with KFWhyEye...#1 12+ and #3 25-54. Jeez, will we ever get that Humble Pie from the Luvable One??
 
What a strange book that was. If KOOL couldn't de-rail the KEZ Christmas juggernaut, I don't see how anyone else could. Maybe a few struggling rimshots can try delivering holiday cheer at once 11 months from now and have better luck! ;D


Also, what about 1190? It goes to show that you can move your programming to a lower dial position just to get a few blocks more coverage with much worse audio processing and you can double your ratings! Hey, if people cared about sound quality, KOOL would have trounced KEZ this Christmas.
 
I remember when KOOL was #1 12+, 25-54 and 35-64 in the same book. Kris' and Mark Waters will continue to wreck and pillage the station until they're removed and competent people are hired in their places.

And let's not forget about KVVA. According to this thread, Entravision's "Radio José" Spanish Adult Hits format debuted on there a little after the start of the Fall book...it appears to be working, at least initially -- as I mentioned earlier, KVVA enjoyed the biggest audience increase (while Univision's KOMR/KMMR, which I believe is a competitor, dropped over a share).

Let's see if this keeps up, or if the novelty wears off.

Will 55/FYI's recent successes keep them immune from the upcoming
Cheap Channel bloodbath, supposedly occurring next Tuesday?

BTW, it's rumored CC corporate chose Tuesday in hopes their firings
will get little notice, what with the Obama-nauguration taking place
that day.
 
I've heard that too oldiesfan and no, I don't think KFYI will be immune. That's kind of why I'm happy for them. They have kicked butt for a long time, through some rough stuff, and if this is the end of them as we've known 'em, they may be goin' out that way.
 
Well, good thing KVVA changed!! I didn't even realize they changed when they did, so I was sitting there like a fool saying they need to change - when they already had done so. Evidently, I must assume it was a good move for them.
 
what's to chop at FYI? They saved by not ever replacing the PD they let go.
pretty amazing they're #3 25-54 on AM. then again, the election helped. let's see if those younger numbers hold up now vs. KTAR on the FM dial.

Amazing, but deserved (however 25-54 aint exactly younger numbers!). The added bonus is all the mistakes the Master Blogger continues to make at KT'R. His Listener Rewards promotion is a classic example...way too much time is spent on promoting it versus making certain KT'R local talkers are on topic and giving listeners a reason NOT to listen to KFWhyEye. What average listener would jump through all the hoops and over all the hurdles to win a trip to the Super Bowl? Nurse Jeff and I sure as heck wouldn't want to give TMISU this kind of information in return for "Free Stuff": http://ktar.com/public/member/signin Just like KOOL's ill-fated All Xmas format, this promotion manages to alienate core listeners just to one up the competition.
 
I have never joined a listener club but the ktar one is hip. I checked it out a few weeks ago and its addicting. I bet they've got tons of people who are on it.
