I've been living in Miami for more than 10 years and am out of the loop with what's happening there, only hearing the stations when I'm back visiting my parents. But I look at updated ratings from my hometown on a regular basis and what continues to amaze me is how a station that was once as dominant as Magic 105 can slide so far. A 1.6 in this latest book is very telling. It has consistently had almost a third of the Point's audience. It doesn't seem all that long ago (maybe 10 years) that Magic was always among the top three or four stations. How clear channel can practically destroy a station that was once so strong is incredible. This was such a vital station for me growing up and solidified my desire to work in radio while I was a teenager. They killed off other competitors in the past. KZ95 changed formats after only a couple of years of trying. But now the Point is completely blowing Magic out of the water in every book. Maybe for those living there, it has been a gradual decline, but I'm still struck by this every time I see new numbers.
