Fall P2 & Out Of The Blue

Ho, Ho, Ho indeed...can't tell much without relying on the Old Gringo's holiday giving spirit when it comes to 25+ numbers:

Number One-est KFWhyEye

Number 2-est KOOL

Number 3-est KEZ

Number 4-est KT'R-FM

Number 5-est KHOT

Number 6-est KNIX/KYOT

Number 7-est KMXP

Number 8-est KSLX

Number 9-est KT'R-AM/KZZP

Number 10-est KZON

Well kick us in the butt....two Ancient Modulations in the Top 10! And here's Nurse Jeff's and my sure shot of the weeklies: KNUV 11~Ninety goes from nowhere to more than a one share. hmmmm...wasn't this station off the air and came back in November as a simulcast of KPHX 14~Eighty?

These would be November numbers, would they?

As in, the month everyone who matters screamed incessantly that, not only was holiday music coming on a month or so too soon, but that it was also on at least one station too many?

Everyone who matters, I guess, except actual listeners.

Happy whatever you're having. :D

We're having tainted egg nog here at the Hut as we didn't make it clear that these are TWELVE PLUS numbers for Sept/Oct/Nov. Only some old anglo from north of la frontera can tell whether KOOL's November was decent as Nurse Jeff and I are too damned cheap to subscribe. Maybe the See B.S.ers are brilliant...and maybe they're as dumb as the Illinois Guv. We'll see!

What happened to KUPD this trend? It's as if Arbitron forgot to send out books to men under 30, or did the young male listeners discover the AM band and help the sports talk stations?

Hey, they weren't even having transmitter meltdown pains like they did this time last year!

I guess every station has that "fluke" book.

KZON (and KZZP & KKFR) do not target 25-54. They determine their success based on performance in the 18-34 demo.

Actually, 18-49 is the "new" 25-54, with more and more agencies asking for rates agianst this demo.

Not all buys are "25-54" as there are all manner of subsets, like Hispanic Spaniish Dominant women 25-44 and such. But most buys fit in 25-54 or 18-34 or 18-49.

In 18-34, the rank is KHOT, KZON, KZZP, KKFR, KSLX, KMXP, KLNZ, KUPD, KVVA, KNIX, KVIB.

Sounds very similar to national TV...I believe that only CBS targets 25-54, while ABC, NBC, and FOX go after 18-49. The trades all seem to report 18-49 network/program ratings as well.

Local TV, however, still seems to consider 25-54 more important than 18-49.

Interesting that KNIX is in the Top 10 for this demo, while KMLE does significantly better 25-54. I always figured that KNIX was perceived as the older-skewing of the two Country stations.

EDIT: How is KSLX ranked higher among 18-34 than KUPD? This makes me wonder if the KNIX 18-34 number is a fluke.

Wackiness in the sample this month. If you have the data, look at the various demos in-tab.

If you don't have that information, look at the rankers - extra credit for anyone who can identify the gender and demo oversampled in November!

Everyone here's a radio genius and should be able to figure it out. :-X

The older adult demos are slightly oversampled... the problem is the near 50% undersample in younger men and the 20% undersampling of Hispanics in the Spet-Nov data.
