False Advertizing?

The other day I saw some tv spots in rotation touting "Now 100.5" as the station playing the hits without the rap and "Sacramento's Newest Radio Station". Given the more recent events with 106.5 and 92.5 , that may be stretching the newest part a bit.

While it's true 100.5 isn't the "newest", making statements like this is pretty common in advertising. One could say the station plays the newest music. That's another statement that can't be disproved. You would have to document all new music on every station to prove it's not true, including all out of market stations that reach Sacto.

You could say your station is the "best radio station in Sacramento". It doesn't mean your station is #1 in the ratings. It's just your opinion. I did imaging years ago that our station was "the number one station for new music". No one ever complained, so I guess we were. 8)

I recall when both KSFM-102.5 & KWOD-106.5 used to advertise as "Sacramento's #1 Hit Music Station" in 1989 during the same time. I don't know who actually WAS #1 Hit Music Station but it was funny that two stations advertising that fact.
