"Family Guy" Takes on the FCC

Sunday night's "Family Guy" where they took on the FCC was freaking hilarious. There were so many great moments of last night's show. From the opening when they were parodying Osama making one of his "videos" which was a parody in itself of the opening credits of the "Naked Gun" movies (but in place of the police light and siren was Stewie Griffin on his Big Wheel plowing people over), I was on the floor.

Other LMFAO moments that I can remember:
- the bleeping of the title of "Dick Van Dyke Show"
- the profanity and sexual-laced tirade by Peter Griffin where he was constantly "edited" by a horn
- "Midnight Q" with Quagmire.

Anyone notice Gary Cole doing the voice of Mike Brady at the end (you might remember, Gary Cole played Mike Brady in the "Brady Bunch" movies)?

This was probably one of the best "Family Guy" episodes since they've been back on the air (although there's been some good ones, too).

I agree, this episode was one of the best ones. I especially liked:

"We got 20 letters from people offended. Each letter indicates 1 billion offended people. So that means that 20 billion people were offended!"

Especially funny is when Stewie runs over Homer Simpson in the Griffin's garage and Peter opens the garage door, looks down at the floor and says to Stewie,
“Who’s this guy?"

Yes I agree this episode was one of the best "Family Guy" shows in a long time. I was very pleased to see the return of "Family Guy" to FOX. The show is cleverly written and is light years funnier than
”The Simpsons”, which in my opinion ran out of fresh material years ago.

LMFAO! This was the best one they've run so far. Even Quagmire (Giggity!) had his own midnight love show on PTV! Now if I can just remember the one line Mayor Adam West said...

I agree...definitely the best Family Guy I've seen. I especially liked the portrayal of Commission Chairman Kevin Martin by Snake Eyes from GI Joe.

I was practically on the floor during the entire show! If Family Guy can get me to turn away from the hottie-fest that is Desparate Housewives, you know it must be good!

...I also like Family Guy!

When Mayor West was told (at the urinal) that he could "only shake it twice", Mayor West responded by saying "thank you, Tinkle Fairy."

I was a little scared when the opening Osama scene just took forever until finally Stewie came and blew the whole thing wide open. I was about to go on a rant about how FG's overusing the whole this-is-funny-because-it's-so-long bit, but the tricycle gag, and running over Homer Simpson completely redeemed it.

A really good episode, the best of the season so far. The song ranks up with the best musical performances Family Guy has ever done, and most of the gags were right on. Unfortunately I think I missed a lot of the 80's TV references.

American Dad also had its best episode of the season last night, also with a great and controversial musical number, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing how they wrap it up next week. While Family Guy is making my sides split with laughter, American Dad is doing some serious, almost Simpsonesque, social commentary. A lot of people were worried that American Dad would end up as a Family Guy clone, but I'm glad that hasn't happened.

That was Seth MacFarlane's way of giving the Simpsons the ultimate finger for putting Peter as a "Homer Clone" on the Halloween episode.<P ID="signature">______________

It was a masterful shot at the FCC...but i wanted to see them censor greased naked deaf guy......that would have pushed the show into absolute supremecy....but it was a fantastic satire....i wonder how many under 25 got the "Naked Gun" and Cobra commander scenes...lol

After being stunned that I didn't laugh one time at treehouse of horror on the Simpsons....the teacher has been outclassed by the student (proverbially)...i know the Simpsons need to end it now and immediately.

Family Guy has replaced the Simpsons as the edgy hard edged humorfest....

Side note..did anybody catch King of the Hill....subtle but great poke at fraud there......excellent satire.

Agreed 100%. I was worried at first when the opening gag seemed to just drag on. But when Stewie appeared, I immediately got it.

A very odd thing, though.... FOX 59 in Indianapolis (WXIN) for some reason found it necessary to insert *their own* disclaimers into the show. They put one up which overlapped FOX's disclaimer and placed a crawl at the bottom of the screen after each commercial break (which squashed the picture a bit instead of simply running over the picture). Totally unnecessary in my opinion. Did any other stations do that?

No.. WQRF did not run any crawls.

Family Guy and American Dad were great! I especially love the part where Stewie runs over Homer Simpson and Peter comes out and says, "Hi Stewie! Who in the hell is that?" King of the Hill was okay but I think that show will be pre-empted again this year and a new episode probably won't be aired until the NFL season is over. This coming Sunday, the show will be pre-empted on the east coast.

The Treehouse of Horror was okay. There have been worse ones than this one but I seen parts of this episode before in other past Treehouse of Horrors. I don't know why The War At Home or whatever it's call is on after The Simpsons. I think King of the Hill should be after The Simpsons. That way at least KotH will get a fair chance to show this season's episodes instead of the constant pre-empting and the uncertainly that comes along with it. Then they could go back and use "Animation Domaination" ads again.
