FamilyNet being acquired by Schuller-led media group

Dallas-based ComStar previously bought the AmericanLife channel

Now it is acquiring the TV/radio assets of Atlanta-based FamilyNet; those will move to Dallas also. ComStar wants to combine the TV channels and change the name (no new name as of yet). The article hints that ComStar is interested in other acquisitions.

If the 2 companies have programming that overlaps, it makes sense to combine both of them. If I'm not mistaken, isn't American Life only on C-Band satellite? If that's the case, then it's no wonder why they didn't reach more people. Family Net is available on some cable systems, along with being on some OTA LP stations & sub-channels of full power stations (maybe even as the primary programming on some full power TV stations). Chicago used to have Family net on WEDE-CA ch 34 & WJYS-DT 62.2 (RF 36.2), but WEDE-CA is doing more of programming their station themselves. Even when Family Net was on in Chicago on WEDE-CA (some programming still exists, but a lot less these days), they had to block Happy Days, My Three Sons, & Family Ties, due to Weigel Broadcasting owning the Chicago rights to those programs.
