Fan threatens Chunky over not playing Kanye West

Just heard right now that a "fan" threatens to shoot Chunky for not playing Kanye's music over the VMA incident with Taylor Swift.

1. If this was true, couldnt the caller be traced if doing harm to airstaff and whoever is an employee of Now?

2. If other stations ban Kanye, is this caller going to threaten those other stations as well?

I am sure that stations that banned Chris Brown last year will ban Kanye this year. As long as there are people that say that they will change the station when a Kanye West song comes on, he will not be played. Radio stations don't want to lose most of their cume when they play a controversial song.

a real threat wouldn't be played on the air as a promotion;
are people really still this naive?
why would Kanye care about not getting played on a station which isn't even in NY's Top Ten?

Heard ALOT of Kanye West on Hot97 today. if anything Hot97 is playing MORE Kanye West after the incedent.

The people at HOT 97 are ignorant. Wish this station would flip to Country,Spanish,Dance or anything else. The station is pure trash.

I haven't done any extensive research or anything, but from what I've gathered, hip-hop fans seem to be a bit more defensive towards Kanye's actions.

I sense a new post...
What will it take for HOT 97 to flip to dance? HAHAHA Why would HOT 97 ever even think of flipping? HOT 97 is still doing very well, and it always seems that people get shot in front of HOT 97, so don't flip the format, if the listeners are mad about the flip, they won't write angry letters to Emmis. They own guns. They'll shoot up the studio.

Hot 97 used to be a dance station. If it remained a dance station, it would sound exactly like Pulse 87.

In all fairness, Original Hot 97 shouldve been on HD-2, or at least HD-3, regards if there is 10 HD listeners out there.

Uhhhh...let's get back to Kanye for a second here.

I think most of the hip-hop/R&B community has tolerated Kanye's antics for quite a while. Remember the Hurricane Katrina fundraiser with him and Mike Myers? ("Bush doesn't like black people"). He also had a meltdown backstage in 2007 during the VMA's as well, bashing the Black Eyed Peas and Britney Spears.

What made THIS different is that he melted down in front of a 19 year old girl, from a country background and that drew the anger of the country music community.

For a fan to threaten a DJ for not playing Kanye??? Stupid. Just plain stupid. A couple of radio stations took Kanye out of their playlists to "protest" what had happened. This wasn't just a "NOW" thing.

I'm waiting to see if anyone is going to interrupt Kanye should he win something in the future.

I believe Kanye's career is over, just like Chris Brown's. Once his current songs fall off the charts, his next songs won't get as much support.

Kanye West was seen as a hero to most of his fans for saying "Bush doesn't like black people". I don't think he lost any points with the Urban and Top 40 crowds when he said that (no mistake on his part there).

I have been listening to Black talk stations (WAOK-Atlanta/WOL-Washington/WVON-Chicago) this week. Most of the callers were not bringing up the Country Singer thing. They were saying Kanye should have never gotten up in the face of a 19 year old white girl. If he had gotten up in the face of a young black female singer, Top 40 Radio would have been more forgiving.

If that's true, it's such a shame that black radio makes everything racial. He was a jerk when he did it on MTV Europe, he was a jerk at the Grammy's. He acts like a jerk. If he did it to Rihanna, he still would be a jerk. Now, was it worse because his target is an innocent, sweet 19 yr old girl winning her first VMA? Yes. White? Not on the Top 40 end. If it's overlooked in black radio BECAUSE she is white, that's just sad.

How can anyone possibly justify Kanye's actions hip-hop fan or not? Only the most "Lowest common denominator" among us could possibly cut this guy any slack.

Just a note, even though Taylor Swift is White, remember Rihanna is Black, and Top 40 stations across America were NOT very forgiving with Chrs Brown. Seems like race isn't THE factor anymore.
