Fantastic Oldies Game!

Admittedly, I'm stealing this idea from the "Off The Air" room here on Radio-Info. That room has the 'Fantastic Word Game' thing going on, and it's been a big success.

In that game, the first poster wrote an initial sentence, and the second poster had to begin the second sentence with the last word of the first sentence, etc.

In this game, I will write the initial sentence. You may take any word from that sentence and link the second sentence to any subject relating to 50's, 60's, 70's oldies. The subject could be the name of an:

Individual recording artist
Band/group member
Song
Record label
Record producer
Town from which a group, artist, or label originated
Oldies Radio Station (past or present)
Oldies Disc Jockey (past or present)
Number of hits a particular artist or group recorded
B-Side
Oldies Store (past or present)
Or ANYTHING AT ALL that is related to oldies music.

Here is an example:

Sentence 1) Danny & The Juniors recorded "At The Hop."
Sentence 2) Junior Walker & The All Stars were from Indiana.
Sentence 3) Indiana Wants Me was recorded by R. Dean Taylor.

etc. etc.

This may be a challenging game but those of us who dig oldies trivia should be able to not only make it happen, but also learn a lot from each other about this subject. Be sure to highlight the word you are using from the previous sentence. And of course it's easy to solicit the internet for ideas and suggestions to write a follow-up sentence.

Hopefully Radio-Info will allow us to get it going.

I'll start with the initial sentence:

Elvis Presley was born in Mississippi, nicknamed "The King Of Rock and Roll," acted in numerous movies, married Priscilla Beaulieu, bore a child named Lisa Marie, and from 1956 to 1977 he recorded numerous Top 40 hits, many of which hit the number one spot.

Can someone use a word from that sentence and start the second sentence by linking it to 50's, 60's, or 70's oldies?

"MISSISSIPPI" was a forgotton hit for John Phillips of the Mamas & Papas in 1970.

"I'll Always Love My Mama" was a 1973 hit for Little Sonny, Big Sonny, and the rest of Philadelphia's Intruders.

It might as well RAIN until September. So says Carole King.

"See You In September" was a one hit wonder in 1959 for 'The Tempos,' a Pittsburgh group who in 1959 recorded that song on the Climax record label.

Sonny Gerace of The Outsiders was the Voice of another one hit wonder sound, CLIMAX, who had precious and few hits! (That one should be worth a double word score)

Sonny was the name of a "Philly Favorite" tune by a group called the Cammotions, and I think it's on Volume One of The Philly Favorites CD Series, along with Memory Lane by The Hippies, who were also known as The Tams.

I assume the word to use is The Tams

The Tams had their greatest success during the 1960s, but scored again in the hit There Ain't Nothing Like Shaggin.

In this game you pick any word from the previous sentence and use it in your sentence and link it to anything relating to 50's 60's 70's oldies!

Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing Baby and Your Precious Love were a couple of big hits for Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, one of motown's great duo's.

The wonder of it all is that there is absolutely no skill needed in this game.

Look at it like this. You are testing your knowledge of oldies trivia and title/artist by being able to come up with ANYTHING at all related to oldies by picking a single word from a sentence. If you know your stuff, it can be pretty creative.

Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders in addition to Groovy Kind Of Love had a hit with "The Game Of Love."

Tommy Edwards had a gem with "It's All In The Game", from 1958.

Tommy Hunt joined the Chicago group The Flamingos in 1956, three years before that group recorded their biggest hit, "I Only Have Eyes For You" on the End record label.

"Speedo" backed with "Let Me Explain" and "Zoom" backed with "You Are" were a couple of great New York records recorded on the Josie record label by Earl Carol and The Cadillacs.
