Fantastic word game

I don't care what you do, dude
No, I'm dmargalotti...The Dude is the guy who originated this thread. Since I addressed you by your user name, I would expect the same courtesy.

I wasn't attempting to post an additional entry or hijack any existing entry...
So why bother? Bored? Vindictive? Jealous? Recently laid-off? We often tease each other about mistakes made in posts as part of "the game". Get it? "The gaaaammmmeeee". But if you're not going to submit an entry of your own, why bother flaunting someones mistake.

But if others chose to follow my lead because I pointed out fact, what does that say about your "hallowed" game?
It says it's a gaaaammmmeee and it's supposed to be fuuuuunnnn. Geez, lighten up Franics!

Generation after generation of band campers teach their children that it is not unwise to march to Thoreau's different drum.

Actually, you referenced "The Dude", you're just "a dude", besides, you forfeited courtesy when you decided to call me out with no facts to back you up, dude.

I "bothered", as you so eloquently put it, because, as I said in my original post(do you even pay attention? Geez), WMC tried to drag me into his difference of opinion with Silkie. Since WMC referenced my "return" to the game, I mentioned that I returned on my own terms and my reasons for not participating as actively as in the past. THAT is why I referenced an incorrect sentence, it reinforced my given reason. And, actually, I'm gainfully employed, thanks for asking. I should ask you if YOU are, tho. You're the one with so much time on your hands that you buy into the "stripes" you were given regarding the governance of this supposed "game". "Game", by the way, according to Webster's, is defined as "a physical or mental competition conducted according to rules with the participants in direct opposition to each other". Understand what the "rules" part means, sport? Didn't think so. It's not a game if the rules are nebulous and/or non-existent.

Oh, and it's spelled "Francis", not "Franics".

Different Drum was a song that came out in 1967 by the group Stone Poneys with lead singer Linda Ronstadt.

Her career would have lasted longer if she had stayed as a singer and not gotten so much into political discussions, as if it matters what Linda Ronstadt thinks about the world.

Collective Soul, that's what we have right here on our very own place in the board world--or is that bored world?

Bored world sometimes, others times board world, other times asylum as it is, this place and the whole of the internets makes me wonder why things can't be more like Strawberry Letter 23?

So dang smmmmmmmooooooottthh, and so dang non-serious.

Good Lord, all this serious discussion while I'm at work all day. It's a good thing we don't take it too seriously. :D

Ssummers, if you were talking about the sentence that ended with "their own bad selves", there's nothing wrong with that. You've heard of the phrase "getting down with your own bad self"? It's just a takeoff on that. Perfectly acceptable. It's a sentence: subject, verb, etc.

I'm less happy with Anyacat's contribution two posts ago but, at 12:35am, I'm too tired to do anything about it.

I'd be happier if the other members of my Board (no, Ssummers, they aren't really MY Board of Directors in real life; it's a game) took issue with others' poor sentences if I'm not around to do it. But I guess it's enough fun to ignore TheDude since he doesn't even try.

So, if you don't like it here, leave. That's all I can say.

Meanwhile, I have no clue what Strawberry Letter 23 is and I'm still too tired to look it up so someone else can follow up on that. Happy Early Morning to all and to all a good night. ;)

Strawberry Letter 23 by The Brothers Johnson was about a letter sent from a girl friend using strawberry scented paper.

Strawberry scented paper is what led that boy to a better place when he read that letter.

I hear the guy who wrote Strawberry Letter 23, Shug Otis, was a guitar prodigy, and he undoubtedly spent some time in band camp to share his skills. Otherwise, his abilities would have been futile, except for penning that song, which would make anything bad he might have done all better.

He read that letter and instantly thought of his first true love named Strawberry Shortcake.

Rumor has it they met in the bandcamp kitchenette.

No, I wasn't talking about that sentence. I was talking about the sentence I referenced in my original post(#5834) which was written as, "Rap and alternative music is particularly challenging for tuba players." (Does anyone read entire posts anymore?)

It is incorrect because the phrase, "Rap and alternative music...," is considered plural in nature, so it should read, "Rap and alternative music are...".

Hey WMC, perhaps you should consider nominating Ssummers to the vacant post of TFWG Linguistics Czar. RJ should be required to relinquish his duties because of his prolonged absence. With Ssummers obsession for all things grammatical as well as his never-ending desire to repeatedly point the big foam "shame, shame, shame on you for making a mistake" finger at the rest of the gang, he would seem to be a natural for the position.

Once again, Chuckles, I wouldn't have chimed in if my name hadn't been dragged up. But, correct is correct and incorrect is not correct. So, if something is wrong, then it is wrong and thus, not right. Get it? It's not that hard, actually, but it'll come to you one day. In a game, you either have rules that you abide by or you don't. Don't worry, I don't point out anything that isn't wrong, so, don't be wrong and I won't. And thanks for asking, but I'm not interested in any position here, real or imagined. If I have something to say, I'll just say it...capiche? Have a nice game.

Oh I get it ace, it's all about the rules. I hear ya chief. I'm speaking your lingo pal. The rules are the rules and what's right is right, right? Thank you for enlightening me there sport. I'm such a better person now that you've brought your expertise to a game that ran pretty smoothly for two years before you came along. Dude, you are the man!
