The minds of some of the campers are pure and stainless, but not most of them.

Most of them are pretty good ideas, but this last vacation idea sucked, I shouldda gone to band camp.

Band camp is fast becoming one of the most popular topics on Quadraphonic's search engine, almost on par with Olivia Newton-John.

I am still kicking myself for missing Fox & Friends today.

Olivia Newton-John would have gotten a restaurant at the Disneyland California Grill, no questions asked.

(Travel Trip: The series, Bonanza, began in 1958, the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Comstock Lode in Virginia City. The early episodes made an effort to include real people and events, but that didn't last long. The town bears no resemblance to that reflected in the series, although the TV set was located in Tahoe on the Cal-Navda border. I am more interested in the International Camel Races, held every September in Virginia City, which began as a hoax but is now a big deal. The races used to be held on C Street, but is now so large that the venue has changed. The first real race was won in 1960 and was won by film director John Houston on a camel he borrowed from the San Francisco Zoo. In 1962, Ostrich Races were added to the event, and in 1987 Virginia City took the competition to its sister city, Alice Springs, Australia, and added "International" to the title. The event has become more expensive, more crowded, and less fun than in the past, but I still manage to have a good time. The 50th annual Camel race weekend is scheduled to begin Sept. 11. There are a number of hotels in Reno and Carson, but I recommend the Gold Hill Hotel, which is said to be haunted. More about that later.)
 
Highlights of her appearance included her sitting on the Fox & Friends coach looking absolutely fabulous.

I believe Anyacat missed WMC'S last post which is completely understandable given that the post was difficult to decipher and Anyacat is dog tired - or cat tired I guess - from her so-called vacation
 
Fabulous that DM corrected my mistake as I mistakenly put my post within the quotes and I am ashamed that I did that but thank you again and now I have to get to work so buh-bye for now.

When luuuuuuv comes alive, any woman bearing even a faint resemblance to Olivia Newton-John had better watch out because you know the boys of TFWG will be on the hunt.

As it goes along, so shall it come, which means, what goes out comes back, but not always as you wish.

(Travel Tip: Mark Twain, who briefly lived in Virginia City and who was robbed at the Virginia City/Gold Hill town lines--properly now marked for the tourists--anyway, as Mark once said about VC: "Whiskey is what you drink, water is what you fight for." And the ancient water line, made of wood, is still in place. At 5 p.m. The Zephyr comes down from the mountains to cool off the city and blow ashes onto many of fine rug. Which is why you will find, in many of the original mansions, the fireplaces are closed off and an unsightly Franklin Stove connected to the fireplace. Maybe not pretty, but certainly fire safe.)
 
The same thing that I did last weekend, which was nothing, is exactly what I'll be doing this weekend which is great because I'm tired.


All this work stuff gets in the way of my free time but I have a job so I guess I can't complain. ::) ;)
 
That's why, is part of a song lyric that is now going round and round in my head, but I cannot think of the song.

(Travel Tip: Virginia City is built on the side of Mt. Davidson so everything is up and down, which used to be no problem for me, even before I had my knee repaired. But now I wonder. Anyway, C Street is the center of town, with D below it. Some of the bars on C Street still have stairs that lead down to D Street, where the prostitutes lived. Their home, called cribs, were usually one room, large enough to hold a double bed and little else. Virginia City is 23 miles from Reno and 15 from Carson City. I prefer going up via Geiger Grade from Reno, much more interesting--although the Carson ascent is nice and safe. There's also a trucker's route from Carson, but I've never taken that. Today, just about everything on C Street haas been turned into a bar, t-shirt shop, or a place for fudge. But many of the original buildings are there and on B Street at least one of the original mansions is open to tourists. The MacKay Mansion, on D Street, is said to be haunted. It dates back to 1859 and has rooms available for rent. Originally know as the Gould and Curry Office, the mansion was originally a mining office and living quarters for the mine manager. It was once the home office to a young mining superintendent named George Hearst, who began the Hearst fortunes with $400 of borrowed money.)
 
Song, a low cost airline formerly operated by Delta, did not fare well in the world of low cost airlines which is led by Southwest Airlines.
 
Led by Southwest Airlines was not always the way it was in the day when People's Express was the airline of choice for band campers.
 
The airline of choice for band campers doesn't hassle people or pat them down or generally pretend to do anything more than fly us from here to there, with a minimum and fuss and maybe some free peanuts.
 
Peanuts was a long running comic strip by Charles Schultz that was a favorite among bandcampers of yesterday.
