Fantastic word game

A good time it was not, as the story by Patrick Dennis goes, for the Upsons at Auntie Mame's dinner party, although for Agnes Gooch it was a time of great relief.

It was a time of great relief as the weekend dawned upon us and I knew that most of you normally take a mostly PowerWorld-free weekend (even though this is a 24/7 job) which means there are fewer infractions that need to be corrected.

There are fewer infractions that need to be corrected, because there are only 194 pages to go.

There are only 194 pages to go before we bring on the festivities

I don't know how that reduces the infractions though.

Around the world, there are many ways to structure a sentence.

Speaking of sentences, I have to defend Mr. Allen (my 11th grade English Teacher). I believe there was a problem with my sentence..

The Detroit Lions, as the other NFL teams are looking forward to a great season this year.

The Subject: The Detroit Lions
The Predicate: looking (in this case, the predicate, (aka a Verb) just happens to be a Gerund.
The Direct Object: a great season.

Also, a sentence should have one or two lines. I have gone back (as advised) and read some of your past offerings. Some of them are silly, sophomoric, infantile mini novels authored by individuals who think they have to spew out their oppressed ramblings and dribble for the world to see.

With that out of the way, on with the game..... One more thing, I do agree WMC may have a "Man Crush" on "The Dude".

Love ya,
Stuart (Please be gentle with the comments on the above, I am still in a fragile state)

Sentence Structure 101 for all future TFWG participants is now a mandatory prerequisite being offered at the Powerworld International University Center of Linguistics and Higher Eduction.

The Powerworld International University Center of Linguistics and Higher Education has generously donated the Summer/Fall Issue of Food & Arts magazine to the band camp library which, of course, is headed up by the band camp mixologist, who will probably use some of the ideas for Aussie beef at the bar for the closing of the summer band camp session

call, email, text and tweet each other every day, but all of that can never take the place of a good, old-fashioned 4"x6" autograph book that you can open in thirty years, read, laugh and finally one day discover that the fun and kindness in those pages were genuine, as all different people are still using those same, nice words to describe you.

Stuart, the problem is that the sentence is missing a word or two. Try: The Detroit Liions, as ARE the other NFL teams, are looking forward to a great season this year. Or: The Detroit Lions, AS WELL AS the other NFL teams, are looking forward to a great season this year.

See?? You are missing something in the original sentence. Read it again and you'll see. Mr. Allen would agree with me.

There is no man crush on TheDude for me but there seems to be one there for both you and Silkie. Neither of you can stop talking about him. I'm merely trying to knock it into your respective heads that he stopped caring about this game many moons ago and the rest of us made it what it is today. My only man crush is on myself for doing such a stupendous job here. (This is where I'd insert that smiley toothy icon if the damned icons were still with us.)

Finally, Silkie, you apparently are not aware that sentences begin with a capital letter so if you are going to copy and paste everything, please remember to go back and capitalize the first letter. TFWG thanks you for your support.

Happy Saturday everyone. For those people helping to move their kids into PowerWorld U this weekend, there will be an all-day welcoming type of thing at the Academic Center. I'll be there and I hope raptus shows up to talk about the Linguistics Center that dm mentioned. I just hope raptus knows about it.

People are still using those same nice words to describe you because you are just one talented, humble, all-around nice person.

One talented, humble, all-around nice person is trying to keep things going here today all by my lonesome on this rainy Saturday as the remains of Hurricane Danny pass through New England.

The remains of Hurricane Danny pass through New England while here in Central California it's a nice hot 99 Degrees, but it's a dry heat.

A dry heat is not as bad as 99 degrees with 90% humidity, which is stifling, suffocating and all around not very pleasant.

WMC2006, I will not detail how many corrections I have made without mentioning them. Consider the fame of ee cummings.

Pleasant conversation can often be had here at TFWG unless we are pointing out each other's mistakes.

Silkie, doodlebug, if I've made a mistake, then please do tell. I've always owned up to them. I am no better than everyone else from high atop my perch in the airconditioned corner office.

We are pointing out each other's mistakes in some cases merely to take up space to get to Page 1000 much sooner, about which activity I believe a vote should be taken as to whether additional pages should be required, and naturally I will place said request into the suggestion box.

The suggestion box would be a good idea, but I must point out that each page contains 10 post regardless of their length.

Regardless of their length or accuracy, we have a tendency here at TFWG to "beat a dead horse" and we do that with all kinds of subject matter including sentence structure, PowerWorld LLC, TFWG International, April Bowlby, and TFWG's own mascot, Olivia Newton-John.

Sentence structure, PowerWorld LLC, TFWG International, April Bowlby, and TFWG's own mascot, Olivia Newton-John are many topics discussed here, but one of the biggest is TFWG PowerWorld Band Camp.

Did Anyacat go back to Patagonia, she hasn't posted since last Sunday.

TFWG PowerWorld Band Camp is a place where the women of TFWG can go and unwind and be taken care of by good-looking people... :)
