Fantastic word game

Raptusjesus has a nice ring provided someone presents someone with a nice ring.

(Lack of restful sleep plays havoc with my usual sunny disposition.)

A nice ring better be coming from andrea or else raptus will be all over andrea's linguistics for who knows how long.

Awwww Anyacat, I'm sorry you aren't getting some restful sleep. Stay home tomorrow, we can get along without you here in the office. You can work some flex time at home if you want. We're like that, we can work with you. ;) Perhaps there are some travel tips or energy tips or instant gratification stuff you've been meaning to prepare. You can do them at your leisure at home for the day and still get paid for it. That's the PowerWorld way. ;D

Who knows how long it will be before we have a TFWG wedding?

The extremely annoying Mrs. Phyllis is snoring very loudly tonight. I am going in there and hold her nostrils together until her eyes pop out (like a pug dog). This should stop the snoring.

Wedding vows are barely holding their own in the Greenberg household as Stuart has apparently forgotten that he was supposed to take Mrs. Phyllis for better or for worse.

Take Mrs. Phyllis for better or worse is what Stuart should do, and snoring should fit in there somewhere.

I always have to rub my finger on Mrs. Quad when she snores. Just barely touch her. Somehow it wakes her up enough to keep her from snoring, at least until I stop touching her.

Somewhere special is the usual location when someone wants to pop the question.

Raptusjesus does have a nice ring, but isn't it a little emasculating for the man to take the woman's surname? I'm just sayin'...

My shoe saga continues. Ordered two pairs online, got a great deal, told them to deliver to my house. Got an email Monday saying they were available for pickup at the store. They had still charged me shipping, but I thought I would just get this taken off when I picked them up. Drove to the store, found out that 1) my shoes weren't there, and 2) these shoes are no longer available.

Is it any wonder Sears (and their new little buddy Kmart) can't hang on to their customers?

Pop the question, unlike a pop quiz, usually entails a lifetime of repercussions.

(Not have a job is part of the reason I am lately having trouble sleeping, that and the stupid cat who hogs most of the bed. How does one 12 pound animal do that?)

Repercussions for failure to adhere to the mandatory posting practices of TFWG could include a verbal warning, a written reprimand, a time out, or in extreme cases, your banishment to bogeyland.

Can anyone tell me what movie "banishment to bogeyland" comes from?

Banishment to bogeyland does not stimulate any of the synapses which are currently firing in my aging brain.

I'm just killing time at work until the 11 am party. ;D

Found this 18th century tweet while surfing online: "My milkcart brings all the rakes to the yard forthwith, and verily, it is better than thine!"

My aging brain tells me that "banishment to bogeyland" comes from Babes in Toyland, 1934, which turned up recently on TCM.

(I have a thing for old movies, although I am not particularly found of Laurel and Hardy.)

TCM has been known to show Babes in Toyland although I'm not sure if they are still showing the colorized version or the preferable original version in black & white.

Good job Anyacat! I only thought of that because where I am, Channel 11 WPIX-TV would show that movie every Thanksgiving Day when I was a kid and it was something I always looked forward to. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Black and white televisions started to fade out in the late 60s.

please send Mrs. quad over so I can test this touching theory about snoring! ;D

FYI.. to the best of my knowledge, Disney has never released "Babes in Toyland" on DVD. However the Kaneau Reeves one is available. (really he actually made one)
???

Anyone remember "Yuletide Log" from Channel 11?

In between time spent opening presents and playing with toys on Christmas, we would always bask in the glow of the Yule Log as seen on Channel 11.

For those who may not know of it, it was a looped video of a lone log burning in a fireplace set to a soundtrack of Christmas music. Believe it or not, this was hugely popular back in the day and WPIX-TV even revived it a few years ago. The best part was trying to catch the jump cut. You'd watch the log burn way down and then all of a sudden thanks to an abrupt edit, the flame would instantly become huge again!

The Yule Log as seen on Channel 11 is, I believe, available on DVD.

The 1961 Babes in Toyland featured Annette Funicello and Tommy Sands
The 1986 (?) version featured Keanu Reeves and Drew Barrymore
There was/is also a rock/punk band called Babes in Toyland
But the original Babes in Toyland is an operetta composed by Victor Herbert.

On the eve of a holiday, finishing the TPS Reports is also affected by the fact that I get all antsy.

I get all antsy whenever I see Quad, WMC, or Raptus in TFWG because they set my heart aflutter... ;D

They set my heart aflutter, she cooed, pointedly dropping her lace handkerchief and looking coyly from her her lashes to see who would win the scrimmage to return said lacy object to her perfectly manicured hand.
